An immigration enforcement system that punishes people for the government’s own delay is a system which destroys its own legitimacy. People are being thrown in handcuffs and put in ICE detention despite having done every single thing the U.S. government asked them to do.

I previously reported that the growth rate and composition of Trump's wealth gain in office are unprecedented in recent history. Upon request, here is the data on the relative size of Trump's presidential windfall. The extent of his self-enrichment is even more striking.
Lost in the rhetoric over this war are the servicemembers and their families making sacrifices in the name of our country. Behind every decision to prolong this war are young soldiers and their families being asked to continue making those sacrifices. We can’t forget them.

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick@reichlinmelnick.bsky.social · 3w agoImportant point of clarification: just because a person has a work permit and a Social Security number does NOT mean they are in necessarily in the country with legal authorization. Applicants for asylum get work permits while they wait. Any person with a work permit gets an SSN to pay taxes with.
