i have cracked 100K words on the novel. I estimate about 70K of this is useable, and I will probably need to write 30-40K more as well as rewrite and also rearrange the ever loving hell out of it. i think some of my previously fave scenes will probably be cut, though, and i feel a lot of grief.

For the record, this Emily Wilson Odyssey review furor is ridiculous, and largely fueled by algorithms designed to work us up over practically nothing. She wrote a very interesting review from her perspective and I personally enjoyed it. Now, it feels like people want her arrested for a crime.

Yesterday someone pointed out that on Twitter the main reaction to Nolan's Odyssey is still yelling about race-neutral casting and here the reaction is debate over Emily Wilson's review. I'd just like to add that on Tumblr, they're cheering on Wilson and (checks notes) "feasting on his entrails."
