Mazel tov to Abdul El-Sayed on winning the Michigan primary! We’re proud to share his progressive vision for a country where all can thrive and afford healthcare. If he wins the general in November, he will break ground as our country’s first-ever Muslim senator.

Love to canvass for progressive candidates! Safety through solidarity
glad to see she did this; it's pretty important if Ds are going to win that senate seat.
I encourage all of us to have the grace and focus shown in this going up within minutes of the race being called.
Mike Johnson is the most powerful person in the U.S. House, and he has made it abundantly clear that domestic violence isn’t disqualifying. Which makes it very clear that he doesn’t care about domestic violence. And while none of this is surprising, we should not stop being horrified by it.
Mike Johnson told Politico that he's standing behind Max Miller despite the "serious" domestic abuse allegations against him. Pro tip: if Mike Johnson is for it, do the opposite.
You could say Abdul El-Sayed won despite $64 million being spent against him… one may also wonder if he won *because* of it
I am seeing this exact exchange playing out across social media. Moulton going so low is turning away voters.
El-Sayed was "unelectable." A progressive agenda wouldn't resonate with "real Americans." Well, he won. The agenda won. And he beat $60 million from outside money AND the Dem Establishment AND Islamophobia. Dems will consolidate and Abdulrahman El-Sayed WILL BEAT Rogers and MAGA. Inshallah ;)
Abbas went on the record in late 2024 that he would vote for Kamala Harris even though she refused any of the demands and asks of pro-Palestine organizers, including the bare minimum of having a Palestinian speaker at the DNC or accepting the invitation to meet with Arab families in Michigan.

Abdul El-Sayed was outspent 9-to-1 by AIPAC and corporate Super PACs in the most expensive Senate Democratic primary of all time. Last night, he proved that organized people can beat organized money.
Money out of politics. Money in your pocket. Medicare for All. Michigan... We won. I am so proud to be your Democratic nominee for US Senate. Let's win in November.

Still true btw for those who have an odd and totally not racist obsession with bringing up Dearborn or Uncommitted every day
Do centrist Dems realize that the incentive structure they're establishing by admonishing one of the few major Arab American figures who unequivocally endorsed Harris despite nothing being conceded on Gaza? The lesson for those Arabs will be to uh, not do that again.
This is just rank Islamophobia and anti-Arab racism, based on the bigoted idea that there is something inherently scary about a president with the last name "El-Sayed." It is incumbent on all of us to call it out.
JD Vance: "We don't want the next administration, whoever -- god forbid you're gonna have President El-Sayed in three years ... "
When I hear about these donation numbers, the fact I always keep coming back to is that one-third of remaining Holocaust survivors are living below the poverty line. (www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/20...)
pro-israel donors reportedly contributed 12x the amount to this one race that the @ujafedny.bsky.social spends on tuition assistance for jewish day school students each year in case you're wondering why american jews have substituted support for israel with yiddishkeit
This is a wonderful answer, and echoes the way I have spoken to my Jewish relatives about why they should care about Palestinian children.
El-Sayed: "My commitment to Jewish safety is the same commitment that I have to the safety of my own daughters. Because if there is one question of political philosophy that ought to animate us all, it's what would we do if we treated all our kids like they were all of our kids?"

I hate how he, Ms Rachel, and Raffi turn me into pro-child. I don't like it!!!

Stevens being borderline right-wing on Israel probably was the difference here. Decent chance she wins if she’s even a liberal Zionist, not Midwest Fetterman.
there were not one, but two revolting state house Dems who tried to sue trans women off the ballot because they did not use their deadnames. they've both lost.
oh, this is great to see—Liberati is a gross socially conservative dynasty pol who tried to get Whaley, a progressive, disqualified for not filing under her deadname. Harris+1.5 so she starts out favored
way closer than expected, but an Arab leftist besting 70 million in outside spending is an Arab leftist besting 70 million in outside spending: a political earthquake and a new dawn 25 years after 9/11
There’s a lot of Islamophobia not just in the general electorate, but the Democratic Party, and AES was at an incredible disadvantage in many ways. But we’ve got to win over Stevens voters now and prove we can win general elections in swing states. There can be no excuses.
Centrists are trying to spin a sitting member of Congress with an 11:1 spending advantage losing as a win somehow. They should be ignored. But AES has a lot of work to do and I think we needed a bit of a punch in the face because let’s be real, we were riding a little too high.
