My friend once played a goblin character in D&D that had no combat skills and everything in stealth and performance and after the Minotaur in the group beat all the bad guys to death, he would run out and proudly stand on top of all the corpses and give a speech. It never got old.

Like this is fucking Wild I'm glad I'm reading the take of a somewhat ethical consultant here, but I need to reiterate what he says: they're not engaging because to do so would TORPEDO THEIR OWN BUSINESS OVER TIME. You don't, can't, touch that money if you want to survive the crash.

In fact, we have been forced to opt out of every sale where the lead has expressed anything beyond the most fleeting curiosity in the use of AI in their business. I don’t mean that we’ve heard that they’re interested in AI and elected to drop the contract on moral grounds. I mean that, over the course of the engagement, these people have exhibited a pattern of behavior that has made it near-impossible to sell to them without incurring reputational and legal risk

Conservatives scaremonger to their base about the sexual threat posed by outsiders (migrants, liberals, queer folk) solely because the hypothetical victims here "belong to" conservative men. But they reserve the right for those same men to treat their own property however they wish.

don't know where I picked this up, but "you don't know you're mad, when you're mad"; basically, you can't self-assess your own mental health perfectly as your ability to self-asses is affected by your mental health. "only a little bit of AI" doesn't work if you delegated your mental processes to AI

You can/should read Emily Wilson's latest take on the Odyssey, but I'm logging on to convey my hairdresser's reaction. She was AGHAST that Nolan, with his million $ budget, gave Matt Damon ONLY 6 hair extensions. As a result, his hair did not blow around properly, & that ruined the film for her.

Medical advances. All of them. I was told in 2006 when I went into a t1 diabetic coma that if I'd showed up to ER in state I was in 20 years before, I'd be dead. We got a COVID vaccine in a YEAR. Spouse has a friend w/a major brain aneurysm who SURVIVED. And no one smokes inside anymore!!!!!!!!!

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

If you read fiction and you don't like AI you're a hypocrite. If you eat monster munch and don't like asbestos you're a blacksmith. If you play videogames and don't like stubbing your toe you're a submarine captain. We can all just SAY things. It's not hard.
