I also think it's important to recognize that in a lot of areas where this is most prevelent price and quality are a lot less correlated than they once were. Sure quality is always gonna be more expensive but a lot of expensive stuff these days is just a fancy brand name slapped on cheap crap

Ive had to hire a van multiple times to pick up some marketplace furniture. It was a massive pain in the arse, the companies were always booked out for weeks. I wanted to start a company called “one million vans”, the entire promise being if you need a van, we’ll have one.

“The left needs to learn to listen” if you said that the right or centre NEEDED to learn to listen to the left you’d be out of a job. One is a constant from pundits, the others are non-existent. The left is constantly vilified and calls to violence against it are so common they’re not even noted

Seen from abroad it's hard to make sense of what happened to Starmer. Big majority, centrist, fairly united party, no obvious blunders -- and somehow it went off the rail in just a few years. Political scientists will have their work cut out on this one.

nothing happened 'to' him. he took that fairly united party and told whole sections of it to piss off. banging the anti-immigrant drum won zero votes and alienated many. he was all blunders. centrist is a blunder

I think one of the reasons western governments support Zionism is it gives them a tool to suppress internal dissent. A Palestine supporter is likely also a welfare reformer, a billionaire taxer and an anti racist. It’s their litmus test as well

consequence of grounding morality & specifically sexual morality in a concept of purity and shame instead of a right to bodily autonomy. placing the onus to avoid violation on the person being violated instead of the one doing the violating. it is sad, & very difficult to change once established

you see this in almost every creative industry too lately, just an absolute refusal to respect the intelligence of the reader/viewer/whatever. and that lack of expectation just reinforces more lazy behavior from everyone on every side!
