En herbe, en līmen.

I’m also noticing how many people who called themselves founders or CEOs or activists five years ago are now going by “organizer“ so it’s probably important we have discernment about it. Especially given the surging interest in the South after Calais.

WORKER WIN: A Maryland-based front desk staffing company will pay $400,000 for failing to provide paid sick leave. DC law requires paid sick leave, but First Impression Staffing denied it to hundreds of its DC employees. Workers should not have to choose between their health and their livelihood.

With one day left until tomorrow’s 5pm filing deadline, there are a total of *51 ANC single-member districts* with no candidate having pulled papers (as of 5pm, Aug. 3). This equates to 14.8% of all SMDs—interested DC residents can run as official write-in candidates on Nov. 3!

With less than 1 week to go until the Aug. 5 filing deadline, there are a total of *65 ANC single-member districts* where no one has filed to run yet, as of July 29! This means that 18.8% of the District’s 345 SMDs don’t have any candidate running yet… dcboe.org/getContentAs...

The neo-Nazi ICE goons that @mayorbowser.dc.gov collaborates with are targeting the DC Bilingual elementary school. This morning, they conducted their third abduction during school drop off time in front of the children #bigballsgoonshow

Almost a year into the federal occupation of D.C., we want to hear from residents like you: What memory sticks out to you most about the past year? What questions do you have about the ongoing takeover? And what are you seeing in the streets? Take our survey here:

Maybe IOM doesn’t do “self deportation” from detention b/k conditions in there are inhumane and coercive and make people give up their day in court b/k they can’t take it! Not something Axios thought to mention or ask? Decisions made in detention are not voluntary. www.axios.com/2026/07/28/t...

How Trump's "self-deportation" machine has ramped up

It's virtually the only carrot in an aggressive immigration crackdown that has been long on sticks.

IMHO, menos yard signs que digan ~immigrants welcome here~ y más trabajo real para proteger estatus legal (TPS, DACA) + a path to citizenship para quienes llevan décadas pagando impuestos y contribuyendo tanto en este país.

I told him on the call today “I’m so sorry” and he said “this is life” and the thing that is awful is that for him & so many others this flippant cruelty at the hands of this country is.

Fourth, it’s funny DoorDash cites no hearings on fee as reason to oppose Guess what also had no hearing? Comer’s bill. Federal lobbying team trampling the state/local teams relationship with a jurisdiction over a 20-cent fee is wild. Good luck to them!

At tonight's ANC 5F meeting, DGS told us that, for PEPCO work in support of the ATC, they plan to close the section of the MBT between Randolph and R Street for excavation for *8 weeks*. DDOT is still figuring out the traffic control plan, but this is something we're tracking. #bikedc
