trans rights frankly is a top 5, potentially top 3 issue for me despite not being trans and not having any trans family being bigoted against trans folks not only hurts my trans friends and every trans person but is so predictive of further bigotry

this strain of progressive/leftist thought that even pondering the questions of "how the world works" is bad needs to be stamped out if you do not know how society works and are incurious to learn how, you do not deserve to make decisions for society

Two great civil rights heroes spoke these prophetic words in 2022 They are now resting in power with the ancestors but their words live on May we continue to carry on their legacies and the fight ahead!! We must find the strength to carry on and continue their precious work!!

That's not to say climate change is over and we can declare victory but the path to zero carbon is now extremely obvious and achievable and its mostly a matter of time (and how much damage we inflict along the way) rather than an existential danger we might not solve.

but this country? the promise of this country? the promise of this country is that it doesn't matter where you're from. it doesn't matter what your blood is. it doesn't matter your race or color or creed or gender or sex. there is a life for you here.

After all, these are the same companies that brought us laptops for 5th graders and therefore an end to reading whole books on paper. How has that served us 15 years on? Not even mentioning social media and phones. But at least there, the lawsuits are coming.

At least it is interesting to watch in real time the transition between VBNMW being an overture to the pro-Platner left, to just becoming more evidence of the liberal moral rot as the leftists pretend they never supported him in the first place.

I'm sorry, I legit do not understand why so many people have made Platner this martyr figure for progressivism when he is, by all accounts, just a dude with no political experience or history of activism who also seems deeply shitty and will likely lose?

1) things are significantly better when democrats are in power, even if not a communist paradise or whatever. fewer people will suffer and die. 2) the refusal to vote for democrats unless every demand is met just makes you seen as an unreliable coalition partner. coalitions involve compromise

Much like “orange man bad,” “vote blue no matter who” gets mocked endlessly as politically naive but is entirely and unimpeachably correct in a way that more sophisticated political philosophies never are

What happened on the National Mall — a day-long prayer rally billed as a “rededication of our country as One Nation under God” — was a constitutional abomination in layers of blasphemy and demagoguery. It was grotesque. It was appalling and profoundly un-American. open.substack.com/pub/stevesch...

As I've said before, the Roberts court has badly miscalculated if it thinks the law can be used to defeat liberalism. The attempt to do so will only invalidate the law.
