On July 6th, Microsoft laid off 50% of id Software. Among these cuts were folks like John "Jebus" Roberts, a principal engine programmer on the id Tech engine. For 15 years, Jebus supported the games you love. #SaveGameWorkers by telling Microsoft to end their cycles of layoffs: shorturl.at/5ruBE
Be sure to check out Allison's work here - can confirm that the skyboxes are absolutely gorgeous.
@dark1x.bsky.social Yall at DF always had such glowing words for my wife's work on Doom. She was part of the layoffs but here's her last portfolio update from there. youtu.be/WdNvMb7E2Ec?...
One last of these for my time at id Software! I hope y'all enjoy the DLC, even given ya know.... all that.
Laying so much as a finger on Obsidian (who delivered like 30% of your first party output over the past generation) or id Software (who released one of the most successful, creative and technologically polished trilogies of the past decade) is straight up vandalism.
I’m so sorry for everyone at id Software affected by these layoffs. I know what it feels like to leave id while id goes on. It’s a strange and painful thing to step away from a place that holds so much of your work, friendships and history. 1/5
Proud to have been a part of DOOM, even if I'd prefer to have stuck around a bit longer.
If they ended up decimating id Software's tech team then I have no faith in anything they'll ever do again under the current leadership. Between last week and today's news...I just don't know what to say at this point.
100% completion on Silksong means I can finally had time to wrap up Estrella from Pedro Fernandez Works!
She's all done! She's been sitting on my shelf waiting very patiently to be painted and I'm super happy with the result!
Added some “Liquid Glass” to my local copy of the SwayFX window manager.
In between all the rain it’s been a beautiful season to be outside!
Congrats to the whole id Software team and everyone involved with next week's launch of DOOM: The Dark Ages! I've not had a chance to make much fan art lately, but I had to carve out some time to commemorate the occasion.
DOOM The Dark Ages is on the cover of EDGE Magazine! Art by the amazing artist Gabz, who has done the iconic DOOM posters from previous games.
3D prints are cool and all but Resin casts of hand sculpted miniatures is so peak.
Finished a couple painting projects with the time off work! Got a couple more coming along quickly too.
Hi! Seems like I picked a busy day to finally join Bluesky. 😅 I'm Xous, illustrator/concept artist. I'll have some new art to share in the future, so in the meantime here are a few pieces of older work. Including a doodle I made a while back that never got to post anywhere before. 😃
Someday I'd love to get back to this project I was building for @play.date. Had a ton of fun doing some art & animations for a change.
