PASSAGE: VERGE (1989)
Acrylic on Canvas - 48" X 36"

There are other, more metaphysical meanings to be derived from this painting, but at the time I was doing it I had decided to "step off the brink," professionally speaking. 1/2 #art

A mysterious woman, hooded in windswept robes, stops at the edge of a rocky outcrop. With palm up, she holds out her hand, and above it floats a transparent sphere containing a solitary flame. At the edge of the cliff, she stands framed by a tall arch in the distance. A circle—an echo set above the vessel she holds—sits high in the arch. Anchored by elegantly curving supports, it suggests something mystical as if it may not exist physically in this world but rather serve as a portal to the next. Behind, blue skies fade to a peach streak across the horizon and the misty hills rolling below. She seems poised to step out into open air but she turns her head back, partially revealing her face. Her thoughts linger on where the next step will lead. Will it be over the edge and down? Or does this passage lead to someplace else?

id Software is what it is because of the marriage between design and internal tech. We've seen a company go through its ups and downs when these two things are out of sync, but when they are aligned, the studio is pure magic. You simply cannot have id Software with just one.

I'm heartbroken to hear about the Microsoft layoffs that have hit id Software. This triology of Doom has been incredible and wouldn't have been possible without these talented people. If you need some incredibly talented folks on your team, I have linked who I can so far below.

Trying to work like its a normal day when numerous good friends of mine are having their lives upended... the same way my life was upended in March... the same way my team of amazing people was upended in October... the people who make up the games industry can't survive like this

after almost 16 years my time with id is done as layoffs ravage everyone across the companies. i'm going to be fine money wise, but if you have money to spare, donate it to the game worker hardship fund! uvw-cwa.org/hardship-fun...

Unfortunately I've been impacted by the layoffs at Xbox. I'm still in shock. It was a great 11 years. If anyone has connections or info about job opportunities hit me up.

Happy 10th anniversary to the amazing DOOM (2016). As with the original before it, a game that deeply changed my life. I am forever grateful to have experienced it. 🙇💙 Sadly I haven't had time to finish my newest painting for it, so here are various acrylic paintings I've done in the past.

An acrylic painting of the Doom Slayer wielding the BFG9000 against the Spider Mastermind. A group of demons looks on in the background. 22"x28" canvas.A collage of several portraits done of demons, scenery, and a power-up. All done using acrylic paint.A portrait of Doomguy holding Daisy. Painted on 16"x20" canvas using various brands of acrylic paint. An acrylic painting done in a first-person viewpoint. The scenery here is inspired by the Titan's Realm level in the game and features a couple Imps, a Mancubus, a Cacodemon, a Revenant, the Cyberdemon, and of course Doomguy holding the Super Shotgun in the foreground. Painted on 16"x20" canvas.

Here are the two digital paintings I got to do for DOOM: The Dark Ages! The Atlan painting appears in a few levels, and the colosseum painting appears once in Siege Part 2. Still can't believe I got to do these, it's truly a dream come true. Early sketches and thanks in the post below!

A digital painting depicting crowds of Sentinel citizens cheering on a line of Sentinel warriors and Atlans (which are mechs) as they march out to war. Banners sway energetically in the breeze as three ships fly overhead. To the right in shadow, a lone Deag watches on.A digital painting depicting Doomguy in his Sentinel training armor standing in the middle of a massive colosseum packed full of spectators. The bodies of defeated combatants surround him while two Night Sentinel guards look on. Above him, King Novik and Deags Ranak, Nilox, and Grav watch closely. The banners of various Sentinel clans hang from the stands.

#DOOMTheDarkAges Art Drop! So thankful to have been part of this amazing project! A ton of amazing art from our concept team, environment & character and more are dropping today! While not everything at once; I've started with some of my favorites! Artstation Link below!

Congrats to the whole id Software team and everyone involved with next week's launch of DOOM: The Dark Ages! I've not had a chance to make much fan art lately, but I had to carve out some time to commemorate the occasion.

A digital portrait of Doomguy in his DOOM: The Dark Ages Praetor Suit. His helmet is off and held to his side, while his Shield Saw is held on the other side. A red halo of Sentinel runes and the Slayer's Mark rests behind his head.

Way Back Wednesday with a flame thrower designed to be carried by a heavy enemy! From Insomniac's FUSE (2013) video game! You can see the project's overall visual style changed throughout development. Designed over a period of time, I went back to iterate each time we made a significant shift. 🔥🔫
