honestly I think if the army gets to livestream an execution by firing squad, Bluesky mods should be a little less uptight about people saying they wish billionaires would be a little less alive

In Lochiel, Arizona, where people have been resisting the construction of the border wall, one brave activist locked down to construction machinery—and Border Patrol drove it away with them locked to it. "We're taking you to the middle of nowhere where no one can hear you scream."

🚨 Latest from the border wall blockade: tree sit is still up, one land defender is locked down to machinery, Border Patrol has wrapped a Mylar blanket around them and is running the truck and pumping the blanket full of exhaust to try to gas them out, potentially killing them.

When colonization came to call in the US, many folks wrote about america as a pristine Eden whose forest were filled with delights and bounty. This was because indigenous folk (Like mine) built up food forest. Things that were razed and destroyed as a part of racist violence. Colonization is ongoing

To put this in perspective chestnut trees used to be dominant species in the United States. Billions of trees were killed by fungal blight and now fully grown America chestnuts are functionally extinct. There is no getting them back. Ever. All for a data center. www.gadgetreview.com/one-of-ameri...

October 10th: I've edited a small anthology book by the title PsyBomb Survivors. I've been facing small but still annoying delays on the last leg of finally having the book published due to Amazons many quirks resulting from their "let's cut out the human element as much as possible" policy.

The new season of American Horror Story sucks (and yes, I'm still watching it, I do what I want), but last episode had an amazing scene where they were sacrificing the souls of horrible women to Satan (Ayn Rand, Brigitte Bardot, Elena Ceaușescu, Thatcher, etcetera).

Horrifying: Arizona Democratic congressional candidate Bernadette Greene-Placentia was raped by a man after he knocked her out. Another man approached her to do the same. “She began swinging her foot at him. ‘Not even worth it,’ she heard the man say as he moved away.”

Congressional candidate is raped while repairing her campaign signs

Embarrassed, she initially didn’t want to report attack. Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office's investigation is ongoing.

This is a good illustration of how so much of AI theft isn't indirect (ie, data sucked into a model to train the chatbot) - it's actually **direct** copying, but *enabled* by GenAI. Of course it is: chatbots absolutely suck at creating good, new stuff.

Picturing the most cynical possible outcome of all this being that a defeated Chuck Schumer's final act in Congress is to anoint Cory Booker as his successor, to ensure that — if nothing else — the Democratic caucus remains committed to Israel

Cory Booker — who is being floated as a 2028 contender, and who just the other day did not deny the possibility of wanting to become leader of the Senate Democrats — promotes the book of Brett McGurk, a chief architect of the US-backed Israeli genocide of Palestine:

I’m really looking forward to reading Brink and learning from his firsthand account of the extraordinary efforts to free the hostages, and confront the extraordinary challenges of the region.
