The optics of tonight’s White House Correspondents' Dinner are beyond embarrassing. We have a president who has actively worked to gut press access, silence dissent, and intimidate journalists. And yet, the industry decided the best response was a red-carpet schmoozefest?
When I hear our imbecile president say "Gavin Newscum" or "Dumocrat" or call Governor Pritzker "a fat pig" or Senator Warren "Pocahontas" or Jack Smith "a deranged lunatic" or say "crying Chuck Schumer" has "turned Palestinian," I fear for the future of our country. How can anyone support this jerk?
How on earth can we trust a "press" that is sitting there laughing and applauding this abomination?
I hope every journalist attending that dinner is embarrassed. Because they should be.
This is a super-revealing clip because I think he's naming the implicit deal between the big media and Trump: They want him in power because they know how to use him to get clicks, and they don't have the imagination to think about what they would do without that.
