To our dismay, the artist and author Marjane Satrapi has passed away. As she wrote, ordinary Americans and Iranians have more in common with each other than we do with either of our governments, which have far too much in common with each other. We honor her memory and oppose the war.

I really dislike the whole "drug addiction makes you ugly and scarred" method of discouraging drug use if for no other reason than the fact that you trick the youth into thinking that as long as they have good skin they're not an addict. Which isn't true! Addicts can be hot! and still be addicts

Also, this is I think the first time I've seen Maya / Sex Matters actively come out and say that they don't think transition should be allowed for adults either? It's always been 'well adults can do what they want, we are worried about the children' - not 'this is a failed model that doesn't work'.

The "trans women are hulking men with deep voices and hairy knuckles" or whatever narrative they want the public to associate with us doesn't hold up if the public starts to see trans people who are conventionally attractive/not visibly trans when they think "trans person."

The reason they're so focused on trans teens is that people who transition younger typically blend into society better. To the extent that they're willing to tolerate our existence in society at all, they'd rather we be easily identified by our appearance/voices/etc.
