This feels grimly accurate. I think for most people, engagement with the party feels like getting on Temu’s mailing list: Just a neverending stream of spam asking for cash and no other meaningful call to be part of anything that might generate any sense of identity or community.

There's nothing to "join" in the Democratic Party. It's a brand with products I spend my vote on once a year at the democracy store. Most people's experience of it is an endless stream of texts that read like scams, their reward for donating or signing a petition. No wonder DSA is growing

Why has DSA grown? One argument from this research: not just ideology, but organization. Strong membership plus ongoing and continuous participation in social movements creates credibility, committed volunteers, political skills, and durable electoral capacity. www.niskanencenter.org/inside-the-d...

In what universe is Black Hole a long enough player to justify a) turning it into a scissor flipper game and b) turning the inlane into an outlane?! These Pinburgh techs are maniacs.

Black Hole pinball machine with the guide under the upper right flipper removed and the inlane guide also removed.

I have trouble with focus. Before I plunge, I stand there for a good 20 seconds, just flipping and reviewing strategy, engrossing in the game and letting everything else melt away. I also encourage myself to “stay active”, because too often I passively watch as a ball drains without intervening.

when i'm playing competitive #pinball thing, here's what I've found helps me out. I do my best to avoid looking at any of the scores until my last ball has been played. I wear ear plugs to help block distractions. I stand close enough to see if other players in my group have tilted (1/2)

I get that the left is desperate for that unicorn candidate who’s firmly leftist but also a chiseled working class veteran white bro, but cmon y’all, we have to have some standards. He was never working class. He was a Nazi. We didn’t know he was a rapist, but he was a walking red flag from day 1!!

Golly I just cannot believe the guy with a big Nazi tattoo on his chest had other ugly skeletons in his closet. WHO COULD HAVE POSSIBLY SEEN THIS COMING?
