The year is 2035. Flock cameras are everywhere. You step out of your home and hear a voice coming from somewhere overhead, possibly close to the streetlight next to you. It's me. "Collar gap."

I come up with new and innovative ways to fix computers. j.k. i yell at them until they work Thoughts and opinions my own. You can borrow them though if you want.
it’s ok everybody the dodgers playoff bullpen is going to be Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki, Tanner Scott and maybe a fixed wrobo
tooting my own horn a _little_ here, but @tranquil.farm now supports @comail.at's categories, so no more risking bulk emails against the AUP :)
I’m putting out an official discourse warning for tonight. take shelter, prepare a firebreak, lay in supplies, etc etc etc
the website really seems to have the rips tonight
So I get that there's (yet again) a big debate going on about AI on Bluesky. I am turning off replies to this post because I don't want to have notifications flooded one way or the other on this one. I just want to share what I've heard multiple times in just the past two weeks.
The most significant extension to the protocol since launch—atproto spaces—is now officially alpha software you can start testing with. Here's more about the goals and how to start testing. atproto.com/blog/atproto...
The Atproto Spaces Alpha is Live
Atproto Spaces, formerly known as “the permissioned data protocol,” is a new extension to atproto that enables non-public data. The alpha is now officially open. Here’s how to develop with it and what to expect as we work towards the full release.

hi @oyster.cafe (sorry to bug you again after just pinging you on tangled a day or two ago), but I discovered tangled.org/tranquil.far... which seems somewhat breaking with existing lexicons lexicon.garden/lexicon/did:...
is_valid_uri does not align with uri string format in atproto #130
Getting a head start on my migration of teal.fm records from alpha to production, i was unable to migrate them. Root cause appears to be that `tranquil-pds/crates/tranquil-lexicon/src/formats.rs` ex...

if you want an Evernote replacement, you should definitely check out Obsidian
As a gentle reminder, I think we should be advocating for personal websites to use at tags (and I would like to figure out a migration story for @standard.site to use these tags for verifification)

Why yes your boilerplate *should* include a @standard.site declaration in the header
If you are a person who likes using social media to find links to other interesting things, Bluesky is currently the only good-sized social media network that *isn’t* actively discouraging external links.
And for at least a bit of real world data, Bluesky continues to be the largest single source of traffic (after search) to @techdirt.com. I don't think Threads has ever shown up in any list of referrers. Ever.
Giving users control is great, and I don't really use macOS myself, but the security popups are the laziest and most broken feature I've ever seen from Apple. It scares people and puts the burden entirely on the user and app developer. There's no provision for an app to explain what it's doing!
businesses on bluesky: please set your handle to your official domain (like @dropout.tv) while you can’t stop scammers, at least your audience here will know what website is real!
SCAM ALERT: Do not order from www.fantagraphics-us.com, it is not a legitimate website! They have cloned our real website and are stealing people’s credit card information. If you want to order directly from us, please do so at www.fantagraphics.com.
This is the way. Get people using apps that interest them. The more gateways the better; and it doesn’t have to be focused on social media.
@birds.place has onboarded 2 people to atproto so far, my dad and a girl i graduated high school with i signed up my dad thru selfhosted.social (my dad 🤝 @pds.dad ) and latter i told to sign up at bsky.app first, both were smooth
hosted atproto handles should work as a customizable personal homepage by default (eg, PDS acts like blento). huge "show don't tell" for atmosphere/web integration. (I think folks are aware of the juice and working towards this, but I wish it had shipped ages ago)
A lot of people don't know this, but when you brush a cat, you are legally required to show them the wad of cat hair that came off of them and tell them "this is enough for another whole cat"
did they have to choose the ugliest possible beans picture in existence like that is somehow worse than the memes about Taco Bell
this is fucking disgusting
That sudden realization about halfway through The Odyssey that Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters is basically just a retelling of the Odyssey. I’m also realizing this isn’t a new realization but still
We need better ways to sell people on decentralization, AT Protocol, and Bluesky than telling them open networks mean they won't have to suffer through losing yet another platform to an Elon Musk.
Decentralization is Insurance
And no one's excited to buy insurance.

What's more decentralized: atproto or ActivityPub?
