Seeing a Spider-Man/Punisher team-up in the new movie reminds me of my favourite one ever, from the 1991 Punisher gameboy game, because WHAT DOES SPIDER-MAN THINK THE PUNISHER WILL DO WHEN HE GETS THERE?

SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY is a fucken great time. It’s a Spider-Man movie that feels like a Spider-Man movie! God I had a good time. And I saw it in ScreenX for extra swinging immersion.

For whatever reason I, until recently, had a copy of "Stars and Space" by Patrick Moore, from 1960. The sheer LOOK AROUND YOU energy coming off it is unmatched. I took photos of some illustations, I believe by Moore himself, before I gave it away and have to post them.

Based on this map, every place I've ever lived - Warwick, Oxford, Ealing and MK - have been within the borders of Mercia. I hope an ancestor is proud.

I used to holiday in Clacton in the 90s because my grandparents retired there so whenever it comes up in the news, which is a lot, I mostly think of the sewage outlet pipe on Jaywick Sands that my brother and I used to go crabbing off.

Anna and I did a quiz yesterday at the Craufurd Arms in MK and we got 9/10 on the sports round, so I guess we're jocks now. Or we would be if we hadn't scored 1/10 on the "identify a football club from its badge" picture round.

This is what I loved about The Pillow Book. It's a thousand years old but it's basically the written equivalent of a Tumblr account, full of fun observations, odd lists, short fiction & diary entries. Despite the cultural and chronological distance, it reads like the work of a modern person.

One of my fave things in York Minster: a medieval wren stalking a spider. It reminds me that history isn't only kings and battles. Someone, centuries ago, found joy in the same things we still notice today. It's a reminder of how much we have in common over our differences.

That new Science Saru adaptation of GHOST IN THE SHELL is finally out and it is honestly perfect. They’re adapting the manga so directly and it has this fun, bright, 80s-anime vibe. I could not be happier.

Excited to see Ben Folds Five are reuniting for a 30th (31st) Anniversary tour. Admittedly I got to see them last time they reformed, but much like the Pixies, I’m not going to pass up the chance to see a band again when I once thought I never would.

SUPERGIRL is basically an okay time but the bits that’ll stick with me are the maybe three or four things about it that are truly catastrophic.

WIDOW’S BAY on AppleTV is the real deal. It’s like a proper tv show with lore and characters and an actual story that ISN’T just people having dull conversations that don’t go anywhere. First three eps are decent enough and then from four onwards it REALLY gets going.

I feel like this can be solved by etymology. If an "ice lolly" is an ice form of a lolly (lollipop), and lollipops were sweet treats on sticks, exclusively, then if it's on a stick and frozen (iced) it's an ice lolly. An ice cream lolly falls in that definition. QED A Magnum is a lolly.
