'Trumpism is a failure' is absolutely cope until the supreme court is fixed. as is, they've won, and the feckless 'opposition party' is not united around undoing that victory.

The truth about AI-generated content and writing is that, if you're actually paying attention and are actively engaged, you can tell the difference. AI only works in a society where people are dissociating and distracted and unengaged. That's the point of it. To just forward an unlived life.
the people on here who try to rewrite obama's win in 2008 as some kind of victory for squishy centrism get the most eyerolls from me. im not pretending like he was some left wing firebrand, but he courted progressives and used progressive-leaning rhetoric while clinton pushed safe centrism
You have to honestly and unflinchingly look backward before you can look forward. You need to know where you’ve been and where you are to know where you should go. America does not want to look backward or forwards.
We can’t have a meaningful debate about public policy if we can’t agree on what constitutes a baseline for reality.
My friends at @calmatters.org have been doing consistently fantastic reporting calmatters.org/justice/2026...
‘Pretty sure he’s wet:’ Immigration agents used racial slurs during LA sweeps, court records show
Records released as part of a lawsuit challenging racial profiling show that immigration agents used slurs to refer to Latino targets.

"Belonging ... is not conditional." Expand that nationally and demand that of all Democrats. Republicans LOVE conditions. Some Dems agree. They should not.
Mamdani: "When I make criticisms of PM Netanyahu, they are criticisms of PM Netanyahu. And what I shared were not even frankly personal assessments, they were objective facts ... it's a city where everyone needs to know that their belonging to it is not conditional on how they feel about the mayor."
I feel that this really broke down with AI, where they thought people would accept it even though the marketing pitch was "this will take all your jobs, suckers!" They forgot they were supposed to try to convince people it would make their lives better, and just said the investor pitch out loud.
End qualified immunity! End police unions.
PSA: Go to the fucking doctor. Preventative care can save your life and your money. (This goes for men especially.)
We're in the same age group and I had a similar perspective emotionally because of my trauma and general history. BUT, that also is what eventually led to me having a hypertensive crisis that was minutes away from killing me. Would have preferred a check-up and a little medical debt.
If we, as a society, really think that the best way to deal with mental health issues is to send executioners with guns drawn, safeties off, and no additional skills or resources, then we could probably do that without giving those untrained executioners multi-billion dollar budgets. Just a thought.
If your upbringing taught you that allowing queer people to exist like every other citizen is incorrect, your upbringing was flawed and bigoted and your responsibility is to adapt and work on yourself.
Always get a kick out of people who, after all this time, are still penning articles and posting things like, "This is going to get a lot worse unless the Trump Administration changes course." My dude. They're not there to make things work. They're there to steal. Open your fucking eyes.
I don’t know how you rebuild policing to discourage that behaviour; but I know that no number of traffic cameras or restraining orders will do the work alone.
my mom used to say that apologies mean nothing if you keep doing it again.
No amount of being anti-cop will make you an abolitionist if you don’t come to believe in the fundamental worth and dignity of the people they target.
The lizard brain thing is one issue but you hit on another one: white people trust the government! And as long as they feel that psychic ownership of the state? They’ll kiss Musk’s ass for the privilege.
I keep saying something like this. We all matter, or none of us do! If we could just agree on that, a lot of other stuff would probably resolve itself.
Unfortunately, politics has always been about who is deserving of rights, dignity, life and power.
Okay I believe this but only to discuss what a tremendous piece of shit he was
Stephen Miller on Lindsey Graham: "He's someone we're still gonna be talking about 200 years from now"
Half of congress is getting wheeled around by staffers because they stepped off a stair wrong on the way out of a session They're dying because they're old, and they refuse to cede power when it's clear they can't even see the legislation they're voting on
Being poor, avoiding healthcare, facing discrimination extract costs from your body. Just not usually half your lifespan.
Did the evil forces have a time machine?
Cenk Uygur: "All I know with absolute certainty is that evil forces targeted Graham Platner to make sure that a person who was gonna represent the voters, overwhelmingly won the primary, could not represent those voters."
