I'm so proud of Yassin. He made Bristol and Britain his home. He has contributed so much as a Green Party Cllr to his city and to the community in Lawrence Hill. Solidarity in the face of this Reform fuelled racist hate. Hope always wins!
Incredible chart from @propublica.org. If you don’t follow enviro stuff closely, your instinct might be that the hold-your-nose solution (carbon capture from fossil fuels) would be the “pragmatic” one versus covering Earth in solar panels, which seems utopian. In fact it’s the opposite
Whoever replaces Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street needs to hear the message loud and clear: The UK's democracy is in crisis. A fair, proportional voting system isn't a "nice to have". It's a priority and we need it now.
I don’t quite get Bulgaria’s song but it’s solid Euro pop. Congratulations to them. France deserved more. The UK didn’t. This year’s result will not put to bed any of the tensions and concerns. The EBU has to think hard and fast or the future of #Eurovision is not clear.
The crisis of British democracy has never been more evident than after these local elections. The King's Speech was a missed opportunity to address it. We can't afford another general election under the same broken voting system. We need Proportional Representation now.
Unless we change the voting system, we will see this at the next general election as well. With votes split across five or more parties, power can be won on as little as 25% of the vote. This needs to be a wake-up call.
It never ceases to amaze me how many election pundits don’t understand the dynamics of First Past the Post, and how vote-splitting works under the UK’s electoral system. John Curtice does. Listen to John Curtice.
A please @labouruk.bsky.social, stop saying that it's up to us to stop Reform. YOU could stop a Reform government in 2029, by introducing the proportional representation so many in the country have been clamouring for. The only way Farage can win is through our crazy first-past-the-post system.

Ok I have far too much to do today to spend more than 2 minutes on this but here’s my political cartoon of the day, please enjoy
They are right - And any National Commission should be given a rapid timetable to come to a conclusion because the arguments have been obvious for years. Decades.
APPG Members Sean Woodcock MP and Jo Platt MP today warn that Westminster's First Past The Post electoral system could deliver chaos, and call on the government to launch a National Commission on Electoral Reform.

The daft thing is that with Proportional Representation there'd be no need for this self-destructive war within Labour. It could split into its component parts - left and right - and people could vote for what they wanted. It's only First-Past-the-Post that forces these irreconcilables together.

The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think. New piece from me. open.substack.com/pub/goodalla...

Gary Lineker: "This is the mistake the BBC makes. The BBC tries to appease the people that hate the BBC, rather than worrying about the people that love the BBC."

First Trump slashed funding for vaccines research now he's peddling dangerous nonsense about paracetamol. The UK should take on Trump’s anti-science agenda and open our doors to US researchers.
Spain’s broadcaster RTVE has confirmed that it will not participate in Eurovision next year if Israel is allowed to take part. This is big. Spain is one of the Big 5 countries that contribute the most financially to the contest.
