Clean air propaganda - PC Fan based air filters are quiet, powerful, energy efficient, and modular/repairable. A great choice for air filter nerds or anyone highly motivated for clean air. A little too fiddly for your average user though who might do better with a mass market product.

📣 I’m writing a story with The Sick Times focusing on why there are no clinical guidelines for treating children with #LongCOVID and how this affects families. If you're a family affected by Long COVID, feel free to get in touch - felicity.nelson@frogsandstars.com.

L.A. Material’s Tomo Chien found that L.A. issued nearly $1 million in invalid street sweeping tickets — many in one of the city’s poorest neighborhoods. LADOT claims it voided them but wouldn’t release the data to prove it. Check if your street sweeping ticket was invalid: buff.ly/zxkUcrI

Cleaning the air: 1 Box Fan & 1 MERV13 filter can make an air filter for $50 that actually works very well. Tape the filter to the back of the box fan and make sure the air flow arrow on the filter points towards the back of the box fan.

A strategy I am recommending to people who don’t want to mask all the time is always in healthcare facilities and public transportation, AND if you see someone in a mask, put yours on. The first helps protect spaces high risk people may have no choice but to go, the second shows them support.

A classic anti-masker tactic is to claim that if you don't wear a mask 100% of the time, it isn't worth it. Untrue. Every single time you wear a mask, you reduce the chances for viruses to spread. Wearing a mask always improves public health, even if you only do it occasionally.

@suchnerve
“I don’t want to wear a mask all the time” Alright. Would you please wear it sometimes? Sometimes > never. Like just keep one in your bag, and put it on when you’re in an extra crowded place maybe?

I'm a high school teacher who always has open windows and doors, 1 or 2 air purifiers running and I always mask. Your posts help me stay motivated to keep doing what's right! Thanks for what you do!

Bottom line from the last 6 years of COVID research : If you’ve got blood vessels, you’d be wise to avoid additional infections. Now is a great time to normalize wearing a respirator. Might feel awkward at first, but every person who does makes it easier for others to follow. Be a leader. 😷

Outside of this direct problem - it further prevents our ability to do 2x yearly updates to the Covid vaccines, which is strongly needed. One for the winter wave, one for the summer wave. You know, an appropriate utilization of the mRNA platform. Indirectly, this may even reduce flu vaccinations.

Personally not a fan of this combination Taco Bell and Pizza Hut model. Irrespective of efficacy - tying the variant selection of the flu with the Covid variant selection, to me seems like we will have an abysmally matched covid vaccine to circulating variants with a March selection for the winter

The EMA has recommended mCombriax — the first combined COVID-19 & flu mRNA vaccine — for adults 50+. One shot, two protections, backed by data from 8,000 participants. 🔗 www.ema.europa.eu/en/news/firs...

I'm almost 80 and I wear an N95 in public indoor spaces. I'm shunned by people regardless of their politics. I've sadly learned to trust no one (even people I know) to isolate when they're unwell. Covid is still here. Almost no one cares if they transmit disease and the elderly die.

I am a physician who will be wearing an N95 in all clinical encounters for the rest of my life because I don’t want to commit the harm of passing on a respiratory pathogen to a patient. This seems like a minimum duty, like handwashing, but I am unfortunately in a vanishingly small minority.
