Not the hero of the story, not a main character, just that guy in a Roland Emmerich film who looks up.

Like the most obvious way this manifests isn't just housing, it's clothing in general. Historically clothing was often very expensive, which meant non-durable clothing was a serious and constant money pit. People would do violence over damaged or lost clothes because it was a big deal!

This says absolutely nothing of substance whatsoever about the thing it is ostensibly meant to address. "I've voted for people of both parties" good for you bro so have many Trumpists, how about you address the fact that you guys were literally leveraging your personal relationship with Trump

Today's Mechasaurus is a terrifying chimera of a sea spider, a dinosaur, and a Saiyan. I think there was something in Getter Robo G with that armor design too.

The richest person in the world, an avowed white supremacist, today again posted "the next step is getting rid of 'source code' entirely and just making an efficient binary directly with AI" because he has no idea how anything works, not even the basics of industries he is in.

Like I know this site needs to pretend their was some terrible material suffering going on under Obama in 2015 that could only be solved by voting for Trump but no "voters were bored and thought it'd be funny" is what actually happened.

As a Religious Studies professor, this directly targets my livelihood in a way that makes a mockery of any supposed profession of concern the administration has ever expressed for me as a Jewish person on campus.

President Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/aaAEu6v

Virtually all discourse re internal fighting within the Democratic Party is progressive versus centrist, and I think it's a counterfeit discourse, because that framing overlooks the fact that both take for granted the base as it exists in favor of chasing whiteness.

there is a strain of lefty discourse where you can’t come to any unflattering conclusions about the populace—those must be explained away by how they are being acted upon by capital—but I think you’ll understand things better if you understand capital can also exploit weaknesses it didn’t create

i once sat in my ambulance with a patient for 10 hours because there were no ER beds because there were no beds available anywhere in the hospital we ran through every O2 tank we had and the hospital was so low on O2 tanks that they couldn’t give us a new one

RFK Jr said these words today on national television "There were ICUs that were empty all over the country including in New York at the height (of the pandemic)" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha You are a fucking idiot hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha <sobs silently>

From a historical perspective it's a genuinely strange state of affairs that the Church of England turns out to be too woke for much of the modern right. But really it just feels like: having a consistent moral code that demands taking Lessers and Outgroup seriously is impossible for populist right.
