So @ncte.org has posted an update regarding the closure of #CCCC. This statement talks about "the creation of an assembly within NCTE that focuses on the teaching of college writing." Please note that up until 7/24/26 WE HAD THIS & IT WORKED. It was #CCCC. ncte.org/press-update...

For folks interested in the de-chartering of #CCCC and whatever comes next, Traci Gardner (Ten Grrl) is doing heroic work compiling/archiving materials and maintaining a working FAQ doc on this website.

I did email @ncte.org yesterday to cancel my membership & even requested a refund -- I am well aware that "dues are not refundable," but when I paid them I was primarily paying for the privilege of being a member of #CCCC, not #NCTE itself.

This is an excellent & very moving post. Though I have not attended #CCCC as much as I would like (for a variety of reasons), the times I have been have reflected the feeling of community Alexandra describes. This is part of what makes @ncte.org's decision so heartbreaking and even cruel.

For those of you not involved in #teamrhetoric, @ncte.org has been censoring and pressuring C's for years over our fullthroated advocacy of marginalized folks generally, and students in specific. The E Board of C's was told yesterday that the shuttering was about that advocacy.

Totally out of the blue to me—apparently the @ncte.org Executive Director is the #CCCC Treasurer, and has not attended meetings or made budgetary reports for 2 years. To whatever extent C’s own financials were a problem, there’s no way they were THE problem.

At last a statement from @ncte.org regarding #CCCC. I still think this is very bad for those of us in the discipline (& members of #CCCC in general), but I'm curious to see what others think. mailchi.mp/ncte/ncte-up...

This is both bad and deeply unsettling. CCCC is the primary space for my discipline -- folding it into NCTE College is not appropriate, particularly after 70 years of scholarship, advocacy, and community.
