so i guess this morning i am just kind of meditating on the fact that when you reject AI as a creator you are not just bringing things back to the baseline, you are actually PUSHING in the other direction. you are opening space for human joy and creation and even income and that is so cool

This is also one of my regular rereads. I find myself returning to it again and again.
1. book I've reread the most times - going to be a comic book answer. just the type of guy I am. let's go with Matt Fraction and David Aja's "Hawkeye". incredible art, super snappy and fun comics, short but not too short, just the best of all time. if you don't read capeshit, read this anyway!
I wrote [on FB] the other day about seeing people reacting to the Cs de-chartering at different speeds and different directions. Right now, I want to make a plea to folks having ideas just to check in with people leading other efforts to help them coincide/not work at cross purposes. 1/x
Update on CCCC 2027 I just got off a call with Antero Garcia and Emily Kirkpatrick. 1/21
I wrote on FB yesterday about why I encourage CCCC folks to cancel NCTE memberships, and why I see it as a matter of solidarity, not "individual choice." If you're curious, it's public. tl;dr NCTE has proven itself untrustworthy as a home, and without a massive overhaul, that won't change.

One of our heros, @tengrrl.com wasted no time creating a resource repository. Regional groups are forming. Michigan writing pofs organized a symposium scheduled for Aug 12. So @ncte.org has posted an update regarding the closure of #CCCC. This statement talks about "the creation of an assembly within NCTE that focuses on the teaching of college writing." Please note that up until 7/24/26 WE HAD THIS & IT WORKED. It was #CCCC. ncte.org/press-update...

This is an excellent & very moving post. Though I have not attended #CCCC as much as I would like (for a variety of reasons), the times I have been have reflected the feeling of community Alexandra describes. This is part of what makes @ncte.org's decision so heartbreaking and even cruel.
As we process the shock of the dissolution of #CCCC, I posted on my Substack about the unfathomable emotional toll of losing the conference for thousands of us who spent years building relationships in the conference centers and hotel lobbies that hosted CCCC. open.substack.com/pub/alexandr...

While you're canceling, ask NCTE what they plan to do with the $4.6 million of members' dues and fees that they held as recently as March 6, 2026, in CCCC reserves, $500K more than was in those same reserves in 2024, according to the Executive Secretary Treasurer's report.

Imagine the conversation we could have about this travesty if NCTE didn’t require Cs officers and executive committee members to sign confidentiality agreements. Folks should also ask NCTE about how and whether their lucrative grant/partnership with Google was part of what Cs “culture” threatened.

For those of you not involved in #teamrhetoric, @ncte.org has been censoring and pressuring C's for years over our fullthroated advocacy of marginalized folks generally, and students in specific. The E Board of C's was told yesterday that the shuttering was about that advocacy.

NCTE Update, Decision by NCTE Executive Committee

This is both bad and deeply unsettling. CCCC is the primary space for my discipline -- folding it into NCTE College is not appropriate, particularly after 70 years of scholarship, advocacy, and community.
So, uh, academic folks who have been a part of CCCC for a while, folks on Facebook have shared the news that NCTE has decided to dissolve our org. Like, wtf.

For those outside of academia and writing instruction: This is a cataclysm and an outrage. The National Council of Teachers of English (@ncte.org) has unilaterally decided to dissolve its Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), without consulting CCCC leadership.
