Amazing victim blaming on display here. Just proves the point that we should ban right turn on red. 1. Drivers need to look both ways before turning, bc there are pedestrians coming from both directions on the sidewalk 2. The bright green painted bike lane is another signal to look both ways

Bike is at fault here. Sidewalks are for pedestrian traffic, no one expects the speed of a bike coming at them on the sidewalk. The bike is supposed to be on the road on the right side, with the flow of traffic. Not opposing traffic in the sidewalk. ACAB but not at fault for once this time.

Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users. ALL ROAD USERS. What about painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all. For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them. Via @usa.streetsblog.org @nyc.streetsblog.org

Separated Bike Lanes Means Safer Streets, Study Says — Streetsblog USA

Cities that build protected lanes for cyclists end up with safer roads for people on bikes and people in cars and on foot, a new study of 12 large metropolises revealed Wednesday.

"The reason young people are riding their electric devices on the sidewalk is because it is not safe to ride them on the streets. The reason the streets are not safe is because of all the cars and trucks." (and increasingly, really bad driving habits) www.nsnews.com/opinion/opin...

Opinion: Cars are the biggest threat on the road, not kids on e-scooters

All the outrage we feel about teens weaving on e-bikes and scooters would be better spent figuring out how to keep massive motorized vehicles away from all other road users

"I support cyclists and their right to ride safely on the road but only if they follow the rules all of the time" is an absolutely unhinged thing to say in a country where we have drivers killing tens of thousands of people each year and speeding while playing on your phone is normal and accepted

What if we all just made a pact to support our indie bookshops and public libraries to the best of our abilities instead of massive corporations 🙃

Riding bikes is 10X more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities. And that’s just the climate emissions. Doesn’t include the massive public & personal cost difference, the air & noise pollution difference, the massive space difference, etc, etc…Via @theconversation.bsky.social

Cycling is ten times more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities

Active travel can help tackle the climate crisis earlier than electric vehicles – even if you swap the car for a bike for just one trip a day.
