It’s abundantly clear that we need to act with deep urgency to improve the situation of Saint Paul’s unsheltered residents, because the status quo is unacceptable. However, that urgency cannot justify policy decisions that unintentionally exacerbate, rather than mitigate, harm.
When the experts in addressing homelessness tell us that more time is needed, it’s incumbent upon us to listen.
