In NY, what looked like "problems with Black voters"—once other variables are considered—turns into "problems with homeowners, business owners, and elders" and a relative strength with renters, wage workers, and the young.
I completely understand the rationale behind the choice to keep Tisch, especially early on. But he is going to have to fire her eventually, always was, and I think he should have the fight sooner rather than later.

if you want to see normally sclerotic do-nothing local governments suddenly snap into action, do some quietly beneficial tactical urbanism type thing like this and watch how quickly they race to remove it

The MTA made up the "day laborer who can't afford a weekly/monthly." People get paid biweekly, rent and utilities are due monthly, and the unbanked know how to budget. They raised fares on the most loyal riders and made fare evasion a lot worse, and they're trying to deflect with Woke 1.0 bullshit.

I am not a serious scholar and I’m certainly no economist, but this promises to be the smart version of my dumb guy theory of the vibecession, people liked the COVID economy and when it ended they were unhappy, and I’m excited to see Nathan do the math.

Many people imagine themselves to be liberals because they have cosmopolitan tastes and did not grow up in a social environment of overt bigotry. But they are actually quite conservative, having a strong attachment to hierarchy and private accumulation. They just aren't self-aware enough to know.
