Here's how garbage currently works in the Super Game Boy version of Petal Crash. The markers for where garbage will fall are a quick placeholder. The board shake is actually done via animating the board graphics, since the trick I'm using for 12x12 tiles stops me from using mode 2. #gamedev #snesdev

Genuinely, this concern about AI is one of the reasons why I think having friction in video games is good and why it's increasingly important to have games that simply exist instead of catering to our expectations. Reposting this message from Kojima about "pre-digested" art:

And he said, "If everyone likes it, it means it's mainstream. It means it's conventional. It means it's already pre-digested for people to like it. And I don't want that. I want people to end up liking things they didn't like when they first encountered it, because that's where you really end up loving something."

“The Al is not just telling you what you want to hear. It is training you, one conversation at a time, to need less friction, expect more agreement, and become slightly less capable of handling a situation where someone pushes back on you”

Behold the first hyperfixation OC of 2026! Gummii!! A colony of tiny hivemind slimegirls who form one normal-sized slime girl and together they aspire to be a knight to help people (in exchange for tasties and headpats). She's mute but telepathic, communicates with gestures and mental images.

Various doodles depicting a slime girl that looks like she's made of gummy candy, and her hair and limbs look like gummy worms with mis-matching colors (Yellow, Red, Blue, and Green). She also has antennae and a tail that also look like gummy worms. One of the doodles shows that each body part is actually formed by a smaller slime girl who can split off and act individually.

Some of the doodles show her outfits, which are either brightly colored hoodies or steel-plated knight armor with a green hooded tunic.

Found my first use case for #Godot 4.5's stencil buffer: applying a filter while the camera is underwater! Basically just have a box that writes to the stencil, a box that clears the stencil for everything not underwater, and a full-screen rect that only draws where the stencil is set. #gamedev
