My unified theory here is that after a decade of Tory government, people expected a Labor leader with a huge majority in Parliament to govern radically differently in action, tone and focus. Starmer did not. People may have differing reasons for feeling that way, but that's what it comes down to.
Stanley Pignal@spignal.bsky.social · 3mo agoSeen from abroad it's hard to make sense of what happened to Starmer. Big majority, centrist, fairly united party, no obvious blunders -- and somehow it went off the rail in just a few years. Political scientists will have their work cut out on this one.
When Farage can’t lie about people of colour or ‘anti-white racism’ (😂), he has literally nothing.
💯. Reform remain serious contenders for power, because of voter fragmentation and First Past The Post. But they are not some unstoppable force, they are not "the voice of the people" & they are eminently beatable. Labour, in particular, needs to get out of the crouch position and carry the fight.

Their national poll rating is 26% – below Labour in 1983 – and Farage’s approval rating is -37. They’re very far from the voice of the people and need to stop being treated as such.
