I know this is going to sound naive or earnest, but I genuinely find myself shocked by how little people seem to be upset by the levels of corruption we're seeing. Is that the median voter assumes everyone is corrupt already? Or isn't actually getting stories about the corruption?

The OCC, the regulator for national banks, rescinded its requirement that banks get the agency's approval before doing business with cryptocurrencies & crypto companies. Not surprising, but this'll bring a lot more risk into the banking system which is backed by the public. occ.gov/news-issuanc...

CapOne has a pending merger application before the banking agencies to acquire Discover and further consolidate the credit card/payments market. Dropping this enforcement action for cheating consumers out of interest payments eliminates a potential obstacle to that deal.

NOAA is reportedly on the DOGE chopping block. The National Weather Service, which is part of NOAA, provides life saving weather forecasting in the US. A study found that for every $1 invested in NWS, it produces $73 in value to Americans. Again, this isn't about efficiency.

Another example of Trump/Musk policy killing people around the world. In the Thai-Myanmar border migrant camp Umpiem Mai, home to more than 10,000 displaced people, staff departure triggered by USAID cuts, forced sick patients to return home and multiple patients, relying on oxygen support, died.

True story: I worked on the law that help set up the CFPB. I’ve also needed their help. A few years ago my servicer didn’t return an escrow from when I refi’d. $3000. For over a yr would say they sent it but didn’t. 1 complaint to the CFPB & it was fixed. The CFPB fights for you!
