Had a kid to explain the dad bod. Worried about her future. Still a Jersey boy even after almost 20 years in the ATL.

What bothers me about the audit question isn’t the obvious corruption—that’s old hat. It’s that after refusing to release & now saying he is immune from audit he’s just plainly saying “I have committed tax fraud”. Not anymore illegal than everything else but I’d love to see someone state it plainly

"Your behavior and beliefs are making you a bad husband and father" is a totally normal, even conservative, statement to make. It reads as a damning insult because the behavior is so bad! Vance should be shamed for it by people who actually have values

Not just ok, it’s essential. It’s the most extreme version of “I’m not racist I have a black friend but that blacks live ipso facto where crime is” Or “I’m not anti Semitic but there are Jews pulling strings”. Because it’s “my family and kids don’t get deported because they have secret service”.

He is using his position in one of the highest offices on earth to strive for a world where the only way his kids *may not* be terrorized or brutalized for the color of their skin is if the people he incites towards racial violence daily are aware in advance that they are his kids It’s ok to say it

Conservatives have been waging war on this country my whole life. I’m 42. My first polirical memory is when a right winger attacked oklahmoa city. Then columbine. Then Scotus saying votes don’t matter. Then they made school shooting an inevitable. Then they did trump. Conservatives hate this country

do you think a single woman who has ever accused a prominent man of sexual assault has had it improve their lives? it is a tremendously brave action precisely because coming forward usually ruins your life instead go fuck yourselves

📌Six years ago tonight, while John Lewis became the first Black lawmaker to lie in state our Capitol Rotunda, Trump made a point of saying he would not attend. He did this because he’s a bigot, and his rancid base expects this kind of grotesque behavior. Six months later they attacked the Capitol.

This is actually a wonderful example of why we should not try to squeeze ourselves into their framing. As Jess points out beautifully, parents rights is never about parents like us and it never will be. Because it's a thought killing cliche designed to undermine equity and progress.

So, what happens if I'm a parent and I know that my kid needs highly paid teachers, a library full of books with diverse characters, trans-inclusive bathrooms and extracurriculars, and a curriculum unpacking topics like systemic racism, colonial oppression, economic inequality, and climate change?

Facebook post from the U.S. Department of Education, saying "Parents know best" with a picture of a cartoon White, two-parent, heteronormative family, featuring a dad in a tie and sweater vest and a mom in a dress and pearls.

I remember seeing someone say we need a movie with Daniel Radcliffe and Margot Robbie playing a couple who get mistaken for assassins who are played by Elijah Wood and Samara Weaving, and I may not ever stop wanting to see that movie.

It is genuinely bizarre that we’ve become acclimatized to right wingers throwing a tantrum every time a black person (particularly a black woman) is cast in something, but are also supposed to pretend that this is not racism but related to some other substantive concern.
