Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social · 15h agoThe idea that deep institutional damage can be easily rolled back seems like a very odd take for a conservative. The damage to the civil service system is huge, and legislation is needed to reassure future hires they won’t be fired on a whim.

Synthesized hormones have only existed for 100 years and are only able to be produced at scale do to industrialized chemistry. Any movement against modernity and pharmaceuticals is going to be inherently hostile to trans people's healthcare no matter how queer and counterculture you paint them as.
I’m saying that one of the reasons LGBT people are still better off in the US than almost anywhere in the world is that most of the things we’re oppressed for are clearly speech acts and the expansive protections afforded to same in the US are something we will miss if they’re gone

brennan@brennan.computer · 3d agomostly I assume that the twin complaints of "it's cheating" and "you can't take credit for that" are just relatively young people who are still wearing off their schooling hangover even before AI, there's this transition when you realize all work is an open-book test; there is no 'cheating'

UK defamation laws are an abomination. US free speech extremism is the only thing that has kept Trump from shutting down a ton of criticism and investigative reporting aimed at him. But in the UK the law makes it trivial for JKR to tyrannize anyone who says mean things about her.
