Artist and horror lover who cares about the NO Saints a little too much. He/Him Miserable pile of secrets

So what was the timing on these hacks in relation to Trump and Vance canceling rallies? Seems like credible people think North Korea was behind at least one of them, so maybe Trump and Vance are rushing back to fire up the old war machine?

No idea how much this will effect the Alaska race specifically, but the fact that the Federal govt is trying to preemptively decertify an election and the response from the Fourth Estate has been squealing, incandescent joy is something of a Suboptimal Indicator for democratic viability.

I really try not to be conspiratorial, but should we maybe be worried that the guy who already tried a coup has now purged military generals, is building his personal inpenetrable bunker in the White House, and wants to put a drone deployment nest in DC? Seems bad?

Inbox: Trump officials file their arguments as a federal judge weighs whether to halt Triumphal Arch. Several senior officials argue that Trump's planned arch is essential for national security. PETE HEGSETH: "The Arch is a generational national defense opportunity."

We're so used to the zero privacy nightmare I actually thought today "it's nice how you can write something on a little piece of paper and no one can see it"

Consultant: Kamala, we need you to placate the base by acknowledging their desire for investigations and accountability, BUT we're not doing that, so make it sound weak and non-committal to keep your wealthy donors on board Kamala: Okay, how did I do Consultant: That was PERFECT

Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea. I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there. I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done…

Every weirdo on here who has called me ableist for being critical of AI should read this; and tell me how they justify the chatbot making things up, as it convinced this young immigrant to taper off anti-convulsants, with such devastating consequences. Tell me how we shouldn't be critical of AI

Four days into tapering, Bowen was hit with a wave of confusion as she typed out a message, as though her brain couldn’t understand what it was reading. The next day, she was using her computer on the couch, then suddenly found herself in bed.

“I don’t know how I made that decision,” she told the chatbot. The episode felt eerily similar to seizures she had experienced before, during which she had lost consciousness and gone to bed.

For each of these concerns, the chatbot offered a cheery reassurance. The difficulty reading was merely a “signal that your brain is shifting from drug control back to its own regulatory rhythm.” The brief lapse in consciousness was “‘low-power mode,’ as the brain naturally transitions into a pre-sleep state.”

When she told it she had experienced a “strange, otherworldly” sensation — which can be a symptom of a temporal lobe seizure — the chatbot explained that coming off the drug was simply allowing her to “think about ultimate concepts such as time, death, and identity.”

Gut punch of a story about an Amazon engineer who trusted ChatGPT-4o to manage and reduce her seizure med dosages. You'd hope someone who made it into a top engineering position would have known the limits of AI circa May 2024 www.nytimes.com/2026/10/27/w...
