Prepping a presentation for a genealogy conference next year on AI handwriting recognition, it’s very real limitations, and how to read old handwriting. Here’s my working title: “AI ſucks: That’s an ‘s’ not an ‘f’: How to know and why that matters.”

I know some citation formats use first name initials, but I wish in the citation information they'd spell out those names so that I don't have to hunt them down when publishers ask me for them.

This was the topic of my final paper in my intro to linguistics class. For me, “a couple (of)” means three possibly four. If I mean precisely too, but want to use a generalized qualifier, I use “one or two.” I know it doesn’t make sense but I don’t make the rules of my grammar.

In physics dark matter is stuff that should by all available evidence exist, but we can’t find. What are ‘dark matter’ discursive opinions? Views that a non-trivial number of people clearly have, but you very rarely/never see articulated or explicitly defended.
