In 2028 there will be lots of people demanding austerity, considering how much Trump has destroyed the economy and ballooned the national debt. They want to lower expectations. But neoliberal austerity would be the wrong move economically and morally. It would only lead to more fascism.

I have come around to the idea that the Mamdani thing was as much about intra NYC grudges and residual loyalty to Cuomo as it was Mamdani's ethnic and religious identity to be fair, which would make it somewhat sui generis, but but it does leave a sour taste in one's mouth if you are Muslim lol
#StupidSuez@diplomatofnight.com · 2h agoMust admit that I don't really understand what it is about Mamdani that made Schumer deem him essentially persona non grata. (I do get that El Sayed is a *senatorial* candidate, so the stakes for Schumer are more direct).

The "everything is AI, therefore you should just accept AI and stop being so mean" take reminds me that Reagan put us on a path of nihilism and bellyism* that creates people who accept all of societies festering wrongs as inevitable truths and, thus, we should smile and enjoy them.

Abdul built a primary campaign rooted in the belief that human rights are universal, and that we can invest in our communities instead of endless wars. He didn't back down on his commitments to end Israel's genocide and apartheid. Congratulations @abdulelsayed.bsky.social On to November!
No matter the margin the story is that Haley Stevens got $70M of support, more than $30M of it from a single organization, and still lost.

Democrats endorsing the Democratic nominee as soon as they're nominated is good and more Democrats should do it more often. (Not that my "endorsement" matters, but AES absolutely has it and we should do everything we can to ensure he keeps Michigan's Senate seat in D hands this November).
