An actually underrated potential positive for Dems in light of Abdul’s victory is that it gives traditionally centrist or otherwise poor Dems on Palestine on an easy out for polarizing against AIPAC and pro-Israel politics— they’re trying to cost Dems the Senate.

Democratic values, contrarian asshole disposition, I live in Trump +55 hell. A Good Capitalist but I'm not weird about it
No matter the margin the story is that Haley Stevens got $70M of support, more than $30M of it from a single organization, and still lost.
30,000,000 dollars
My neighbor told me progressives keep eating centrist candidates in primaries and so I asked how much his centrist PACs are spending and he said oh just a couple dozen mil every primary so I said it sounds like he's just feeding billions to broadcast TV networks and then his daughter started crying.
Unfathomable
Putting these @ettingermentum.bsky.social posts here mainly because "One day we will get you that free childcare for your children with names from the Titanic manifest and you will deserve it more than anyone has ever deserved anything" is a perfect sentence.
Consumer-facing "A.i." induces "A.i. psychosis" because these billionaire creeps have designed their chatbots to slavishly praise those who interact with them. Slavery destroys the moral center of the slaver. Slavish attention and unrelenting, uncritical flattery destroys people's minds.
MAHA is a eugenicist movement and you do not negotiate with eugenicists. This is a thing a high proportion of people who will tell you not to frequent the Nazi bar apparently forget when the patrons of the Nazi bar share their priors about food dyes or whatever.
In the United States, on January 20, 2025, the air, the food, the medicine, the water were all as clean and pure and safe as they have ever been in this country. Yeah, sure, there were and are real problems, and our army of nerds in lab coats devoted to solving them was the envy of the world.
To the extent there are problems with The System, they’re largely (1) poor people suffer, (2) women suffer, and (3) people of color suffer. These are all things RFK likes about The System. To give him credit for “shaking things up” is to out yourself as either a eugenicist or a dumbfuck. Or both.
You actually don't have to do the "well, you know, I disagree with MAHA but they're right that there are real problems with The System" thing. That's a concession you absolutely do not have to make.

Corporations, Not Immigrants, Are Responsible for Vast Majority of Healthcare Fraud, OIG Report Shows
Trump officials are focused on immigrants, but the Department of Health and Human Services report on healthcare fraud doesn’t even mention them.

No, the US military did not do this at all, if anyone actually bothers to read the actual NTSB preliminary report. The flight crew (and others) were having issues and were telling it to the controller, the supervisor requested that jamming be turned off, and the military turned off the jamming.
this is clickbait garbage a) it wasn't ~dronez~ stuff, it was the same vanilla GPS jamming that has occurred at WSMR for decades b) a crew should *absolutely* be capable of conducting a nonprecision approach to an ILS, *ESPECIALLY* if there's a NOTAM out for PNT jamming
A routine medical flight, on a clear night, ended with a plane crash that killed all four people onboard. Investigators say it's the first known US civilian plane crash tied to electronic warfare. This won't be the last story of its kind. A must-read from @jeffwise.bsky.social for @wired.com
Trump's Acting AG Todd Blanche is preparing to roll back abortion access in every state and halt the shipment of abortion pills.
the Politico piece on the brain-drain in right-wing policy shops was good, some fun and revealing comments, but also just kind of like a weather report at this point. this is what they're working with. this is why you get into Republican politics now.
Something I missed in this reporting... Brandon Herrera said in 2023: “Just because you let somebody creampie you doesn’t mean I have to give a shit about your political opinions. The fact that you kept your cum trophy doesn’t make you any less wrong about the dumb shit they say.” His response...
Yep. Earlier this year I was interviewed by Sharyn Alfonsi of 60 Minutes about my Epstein investigation. Subsequently, CBS pulled the segment and fired the reporter. The MAGA buyout of media is aiding the Trump administration’s Epstein cover up.
Banks permitted millions in suspicious transactions tied to Epstein—and former 60 Minutes correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi had the story months ago. But the report would never air. trib.al/ZShZlIS
Good lord I wish some of you could read on this text based social media website.
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
this is an interesting interview and if i were clipping it for social media i would have excerpted "We're still a place where we don't downrank links. We love sending traffic to people. We send two million clicks a day to publishers" rather than the part that'll just piss people off lol

Particularly since, I hope and expect, we will gradually start to report more concrete figures of deaths linked to aberrant heat waves, droughts, et al and their resulting infrastructure failures - and of course the elderly and infirm are the likeliest to die in those scenarios. No less horrifying.
Not a big fan of the "sick, elderly and/or disabled people don't count" discourse that appears to follow public health disasters these days.
Literally air pollution alone kills more people annually (est. 2.5m) than diabetes (est. 1.75m). Broadly, voters have no idea this is true. I think often about how different our politics would be if we could get facts like this across to the millions who need to hear them.
Alex Berenson, you gotta answer for your absolute bullshit now

i started this train of thought as a joke but now i do think there's something to the idea that the way to sell the green revolution to the US public is that we're being denied Good Deals on cheap chinese cars and solar panels and there's nothing more unamerican than saying we can't have a good deal
I am beginning to suspect that some of you are too angry to think rationally and are fine with republicans winning out of spite
OK, small point here, but it’s almost certain he meant “parameters of a deal,” but he can’t spell and is very dumb, so he used “perimeters of a deal” and news orgs are just running with it like that’s a perfectly normal thing to say, which it absolutely is not. That’s not a thing anybody says.
BREAKING: Trump pauses attacks on Iran, citing “perimeters of a deal” that would end Tehran’s “nuclear threat” and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Two thirds of all the climate impacts we experience comes from fossil fuel combustion that produced energy that was NEVER USED BY PEOPLE. It was dumped as waste heat and noise, because the conversion process is so comically inefficient that is inherently funny, and fossil fuels are inherently silly
From my file on the IEA's world energy outlook. "Primary energy" = what goes in "Final energy" = what comes out a The space in between: mostly lost energy bc burning fossil fuels is absurdly wasteful. So in the net zero scenario, that gaps closes to zero --->>
"Why are all the kids we're recruiting open Nazis at the GOP, it's a big mystery, now let's cheer on Tommy Tuberville as he says he'll sell migrant children for organs and celebrate our moist leader who says Black people eat pets."
how do you all have so many opinions
Not me blasting every Spanish and Kreyol-language media source with "REPUBLICANS ATTACKING THE CHURCH"
Hi guys, I'm sorry to have to ask for this again but I really could use your support. My father died recently and now I have fallen behind on rent. If you could please chip in a few dollars, it would really help me keep going. I need to raise $10,000 asap to pay expenses. Thank you so much ❤️

The inevitable result of "RELIGIOUS LIBERTY" vaccine exemptions: punishments against religions that support vaccines.
NEW: Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, facing ethics inquiries for misconduct, has threatened to strip state scholarships from Catholic schools unless the Church rewrites its vaccine doctrine. It is an unprecedented attack by an American state on the religious liberty of the Catholic Church.
The president took on a vanity project, gave no-bid contracts to contractors who screwed it up, made up a story about vandals to cover it up, and then fomented a felony prosecution against an innocent scapegoat. You could impeach for anything he's done but "This asshole is out of control" is a layup
When you slow down and think about it you realize it's ten times worse than it seems. Sure it's farcical, but it's also a brutal legal attack on a man they knew to be innocent, done to distract from their own thievery and incompetence and as a flex to terrify anyone who might make them look bad.
Iran's target choice seems wild to me. Start hitting swing states man
This is a crisis of federalism. Tim Walz is asserting as fact that Iran attacked water infrastructure in Minnesota and several other states. And Trump is saying it's Minnesota's own fault they were attacked as part of a war he started.
