One of my favorite novels I’m been meaning to read is @joshwinning.bsky.social’s The Shadow Glass. A urban-dark fantasy with LGBT+ themes, it honors stop-motion, puppetry, and 80s dark fantasy films by telling an ambitious story that’s nostalgic and fresh. I swear, I’ll adapt this if I have to.
That feeling when you’ve sent a draft of something new to your agent & yes it is gappy & needs some lovin BUT it is A FULL DRAFT of a story that didn’t exist before this moment. Not something chucked out by a computer but something hard won through your own time, energy, anxiety, hope & dedication.
"The Shadow Glass" by @joshwinning.bsky.social is a loving tribute to "The Dark Crystal". The son of a beloved puppeteer and producer is thrown into an adventure, when his fathers creations suddenly awaken. Both I and a friend, who is herself a puppeteer and Jim Henson-fan, liked it a lot.
