The idea that the White House didn't figure Iran might try to cut off oil out of the Gulf is comical. They didn't figure for what has now become the fulcrum point of the whole conflict. Iran's leaders are now showing that regime change can work in both directions.

Between banning books, non-white people, genders, immigrants, comedians, journalism… And then pushing AI which just regurgitates new ideas… America is headed into a deep cultural recession. This place is bleak and getting increasingly boring.

A single story like this would have been enough to endanger a presidency in the past, especially for a D. But there are probably 10 things more corrupt that the Trump govt did just yesterday to obfuscate this abuse of power and resources so it hardly rates. And during a govt shutdown! Deplorable.

Every big statement he makes is opposite of what he’ll really do. He doesn’t care about deficits. Never has. That chyron means the GOP is getting ready to blow an atomic-sized hole in the deficit. It will have multiple dimensions and durations.

I sincerely think that universities should suspend their productivity standards for scientists and ask them instead to hold town halls in schools, public libraries, museums, shopping malls, and anywhere else and communicate what is being lost with the collapse of the research ecosystem.
