I remember medical intensive healthcare workers breaking down in tears in front of me, telling me they were working so hard to help save lives when their own lives were falling apart, or their own family members were sick or dying from COVID. I will not tolerate any revisionist history on this.

I think this is fundamentally wrong but in an interesting way I will need to write about sometime. The key is a) consumers do not choose what is produced, or how, they choose between what is produced. This is a crucial difference

I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.

I don't think theres some larger conspiracy here to prevent us addressing them or anything, just that if we actually all pull together for really short periods of time, thats all it will actually take. We cannot allow a handful of greedy assholes to hold back our whole species
