I remember healthcare colleagues who just saw patients die from multi system failures terrified of infecting their families so they’d strip down naked, bagging their clothes on their back porch before going into the house and living in the basement of their homes away from family.

I remember medical intensive healthcare workers breaking down in tears in front of me, telling me they were working so hard to help save lives when their own lives were falling apart, or their own family members were sick or dying from COVID. I will not tolerate any revisionist history on this.

I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.
