2+ years later, I am still a little perplexed that r(eplicability)-hacking by high-profile names has not created even a tenth of the outrage or pushback that any given p-hacking case regularly does, despite all the evidence. it says a lot about not what we care about but why.

An AI “hallucinating” is still pretty much science fiction, since it implies an internal experience. A much more accurate terminology would have been “AI confabulation”. But alas, we are stuck with bad terminology, such as sampling from a fitted LLM being called “inference”. 🤦♂️
