Just The Wind Drake

Nobody deserves to suffer. I repost things so that you can see them and you can spread them. We're in this together. I love art I will post my vogon poetry. That is a risk you take by following.

You can't win with people who refuse to engage in communication. Inscrutability of reference, indeterminacy of translation. The gap between people. Language is a cooperation; if one side decides to deliberately misunderstand then it doesn't work.

I'm judging this entirely based on the cover! (It's a positive judgement) I'm posting the image comics link here cause it was a lot cheaper than I imagined for 1-7 collected. Now I have to find out if my local shop can order it for me. Thanks for highlighting this! imagecomics.com/comics/relea...

ABBA fan who loves taxes not because they help build public services that everyone can enjoy but enjoys them solely because it made ABBA dress fucked up for years

jesus christ. where do i start with this. first we have benny in a blue shirt with white stripe accents with some kind of big feathery sash (it’s hard to tell from the angle in the photo i have to pull up another one later to see wtf that is) and long black pants and what appear to be high-heeled clogs. his outfit is easily the closest to normal. there’s some silver embroidery detailing around the neckline of his top. agnetha’s next with long blonde hair and bangs. she is wearing a shirt that is basically a short tank top but the bottom has a gold rim around it that conforms to her upper ribcage kinda. it also has weird organza or fishnet looking sleeves with a small amount of large sequins placed here and there. they also appear to be on her shorts (held up by a silver belt). after her shorts are more fishnet looking material with the sparse large sequins again. how the fuck do i describe these boots. okay so the top of the boots look like flared or bell bottom pants legs and they begin just below her knee joint. then underneath those things are otherwise simple silver boots that go up to her knees. frida is next and she has the infamous ‘74 to early ‘75 perm. she is wearing a jumpsuit that is head to toe snakeskin with a BIG collar (also snakeskin) it’s legitimately insane and also she has snakeskin high heel shoes or boots on. björn is wearing a choker (so is agnetha actually) and a fucking red and white cape. he is also in a jumpsuit but his has weird silver vertical accents at the top part around his shoulders and the bottom half of his navy blue silk-aspiring jumpsuit is covered in those big sequins placed sparsely like his then-wife’s fit, but he has more of them. he is also wearing high heel/platform shoes because fuck it why not

Ideas about the world are built on evidence and previous information gathering. Sometimes people get ideas wrong based on incorrect information gathering and then other people base their models on trusting erroneous research. Plagiarism breaks these chains that allowing evaluation of flows of info.

One of the difficulties with the plagiarism argument around AI is that most people understand plagiarism more as a kind of cheating/theft/corruption (which it is) but with AI pressing the idea that "everyone is doing it" the idea that there's a level playing field undermines the "fairness" concept.

The thing is fairness is only a small part of why plagiarism is a serious problem. Plagiarism is inherently reality distorting. Academic standards around citation are only partly about mutual respect. A huge amount of the point of them is tracing ideas and explanations of the universe.
