Not to diminish the work that Sackey and Hassel are doing--it is fine and difficult work serving and preserving the community and should be praised-- but the recent NCTE and CTT updates make it clear to me that CCCCs was dissolved to remove dissent in the Google Ai take-over of education.

Dear American News Media: You constantly ask every single Democrat about some podcast dude. Couldn’t you, occasionally, ask Republicans about their biggest donor, who is a white supremacist?
I think this should be kind of a big deal: Elon Musk tweeting at 1:03am, “Only the AfD can save Germany.” The AfD is Germany’s neo-Nazi party.
It should be illegal for officials to sign NDAs with the industries they are supposed to regulate. This has nothing to do with protecting legitimate trade secrets from competitors. This is about hiding information from the PUBLIC— from whom they derive the legitimacy required to to act.

I believe we have reached yet another point in time where saying a country did/does X cannot be allowed when the truth of the matter is The leader of that country did/does X without any remorse or sometimes even thought. It is the leader and not the country who should bear the consequences.
I will forever admire Wendell Berry's insistence on living his values through to their natural conclusions and relentlessly ripping through layers of politeness and habit to hold up for judgment those who do not.
RIP Wendell Berry. This poem always got me right in the gut. writersalmanac.publicradio.org/index.php%3F...
I want to bring back the plastic metaphor here, too. Refusal and creating space for refusal *now*, while we are still relatively early in this process, is especially meaningful. >>
Very much this. Holding space for refusal of this tech is a key resistance strategy. That means advocating for that option in e.g. school policies (if we can't get a full ban) but also simply being visible in our own refusal, so that others see it as possible.
I spent 22 years in the Army. I know you don’t replace decades of military leadership overnight. Hegseth and Trump are driving out experienced leaders, dismantling critical training, and doing generational damage to our military. And still Ann Wagner says nothing. Enough is enough.
Who might attack an opponent by filing frivolous complaints that could cause the target's allies to turn against them? Who tries to use systems against opponents because they know their own position is too weak to be effective? Who might have zero problems using Ai to harass people? Buckle up folks
This flew under my radar somehow but . . . would ya look at that minor miracle! www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...

I mean all the lies and delusion aside, It’s the 6 fingered soldier for me. Not only is this president a blight on humanity, but so is the incessant, callous use of AI. It’s disgusting to say the least.
Make abortion illegal, Gut education Support AI to launch unemployment Build data centers to process public surveillance Make homlessness illegal Imprison all the useless peons Extract wealth. This sounds less like conspiracy and more like reality.
What is your very unpopular opinion? Here is mine: I am done with hearing about mergers, consolidations, and takeovers. This is a primary problem. Every one of them places unearned power in undeserving hands. Power cannot be weilded responsibly if it is not earned respectfully.
I absolutely loved this article. What a fantastic takedown of the bullshittery that is the AI industry. AI does not scale. The returns are diminishing. Line only goes up if it runs on hype and grift. Bc it's a grift run by the amoral sociopathic incel Nerd Reich.
Donald Trump held millions in oil and gas company stocks at the end of 2025. Today, those stocks are worth as much as $15.5 million more. What happened? He started a war with Iran this year — and sent oil and gas stocks soaring.
I went back to Ohio . . . and my city was gone. Astoundingly resonant. almost like "the Nothing" is trying to find me.

Let me get this right? There’s been a massive number of lynchings in the US over the past year and we are not hearing about this from the NYT, WaPo, LA Times, or any other major outlet? Can we get @propublica.org to cover this?
How about the wars he claimed would end on day one - is there a list for that too?

It's honestly so crazy to me that we're facing a technological revolution that could displace millions of jobs in the middle of a housing affordability crisis and every day we talk about whether a trans woman is playing sports or if someone has a non-Anglo name.
