National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation. Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.

Immigrant journalists have nuance and specificity in their lived experience that enable them to do deeper and more meaningful reporting. That's what we have always believed to be true at @fi2w.org, and that's why we've been materially supporting immigrant journalists for 20 years and counting.
What I mean by the "objectivity myth" is that traditional newsrooms have consistently told immigrant journalists that their lived experience does not matter, or that it shouldn't "affect" their reporting. But this is just silly.
Yes, there's a lot of mistrust of journalism. But immigrant-run journalism orgs — like @conectaarizona.bsky.social, Planet Venus, @thehaitiantimes.bsky.social, The Indonesian Lantern, The Caribbean American Weekly, The FilAm, and Se Habla Media — are trusted messengers in their communities!
