Bed rest decreased VO2max (B; p<0.001, n= 24), gas exchange threshold (GET; C; p<0.001, n= 21), and VEmax (D; p<0.001, n= 24), while VEmax/VCOzmax increased (E; p<0.001, n=24). Patients with long COVID and ME/CFS had lower V02max (B; p<0.001, n=23 LC, p<0.001, n= 26 ME/CFS; n= 30 CON) and GET (C; p<0.001; n=23 LC ; p<0.001, n= 22 ME/CFS; n= 30 CON) compared to controls and VE tended to be lower (D; ANOVA: p=0.062; n=23 LC, n=25 ME/CFS, n=30 CON), however V Emax/VCOzmax was not significantly different than controls (E: ANOVA: p=0.246, n=22 LC, n=25 ME, n=30 CON). VOzmax and GET were non-normally distributed following Box-Cox transformations. Comparisons between pre- and post- bed rest were assessed using two-sided paired t-tests for parametric data and two-sided Mann-Whitney U test for non-parametric data. Comparisons between patients with long COVID and patients with ME/CFS and healthy controls were assessed using analysis of variance, with Tukey HSD post-hoc testing for parametric data or Kruskal-Wallis H test, with pairwise Wilcoxon tests with Benjamini-Hochberg correction post-hoc for non-parametric data. Nachdem wir die Frau, die Kinder einer tödlichen Pandemie aussetzen wollte, zur Jugendministerin gemacht haben und die Frau, deren Job fossile Brennstoffe waren, zur Energieministerin, ist es nur konsequent, den Mann, der Listen mit psychisch Erkrankten wollte, zum Gesundheitsminister zu machen.
