If SCREEN were to pass, you'd be required to scan your face and upload an ID to access this site because it allows "harmful" material. This affects you even if you don't care about sex work or porn.

Mike Lee's SCREEN Act, which heads to Senate Commerce Committee for markup on Wednesday, would expand age verification requirements to a nearly limitless scope of websites, and is supported by the architects of Project 2025.

Bluesky is a "liberal bubble" because fascist chuds can't get traction without algorithmic assistance and because people here trained themselves to block "debate me" trybois the instant they roll up

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

HUGE: Under Mayor Mamdani, New York City just recorded its safest first 7 months of a year in history—and its safest July ever. In July: Major crime dropped 13% Murder dropped 32% Robberies dropped 15% Vehicle thefts dropped 25% Democratic mayors are putting public safety first.

This is such a lazy piece. It's like "this is a price control, and price controls always fail." First, it's not a price control. It's a government subsidy. Second, price controls don't "always" backfire. They prevent gouging in emergencies and help regulate monopolies.

Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.

They think they're being clever eugenicists by saying that people with "underlying health issues" don't matter, but >75% of U.S. adults have a chronic condition (including 60% of age 18–34). So what they're really saying is "nobody matters, it's okay if everybody dies from inadequate regulation."

Breaking News: Two deaths in Michigan have been linked to cyclospora. Both people who had the parasite also had underlying health issues.

From a Fox Poll out 7/31: Talarico-Paxton is the marquee race down here but check out the dead heat btw Abbott and Hinojosa for governor. This contest isn't even on the radar for the national Dems, AFAIK. She's has $3m cash on hand--Abbott has *$67m*. Some more highlights from the poll... /1

Polling results showing Greg Abbott leading Gina Hinojosa by only 50-49 percent.

Feeling inspired though by the 50+ Gen Xers who saw this and immediately threw all their weight (literally) behind getting stronger and ripped and taking up space in the world. We won’t ever let you make us small again. And we’ll try to save every last young woman from that shit that we can.

Solidarity with my fellow late Gen X early Millennials who are having some feelings of PTSD watching the return of the dangerously skinny trend that haunted our late teens/early 20’s.

It is VERY different when a wildfire levels entire neighborhoods. This is the reality that many scientists have been warning about. It’s not just increasingly large wildfires. It’s the wide swathes of suburban sprawl they are devouring. There used to be a lot of wild. People live there now.

Ah, this warms the cockles of my cold, dead heart. Wait til you see the price a TERF had to pay for lying about a trans woman. "...also be required to publish a court-approved apology that must remain pinned on their social media channels for three months" www.lgbtqnation.com/2026/07/an-a...

Good day for a reminder that any individual member of the House can, at any time, all on their own, no permission needed, force a privileged vote on expelling another member.

Uefa says they have reason to believe that Trump, Joshua Kushner and Infantino hatched a corrupt scheme involving the privatization of Fifa, and they are suing for damages and the ouster of Infantino. They have issued an anti-spoliation letter today demanding preservation of documents..

Republicans have ALWAYS been like this. There is never a plan. They are happy to be the party of no and to criticize, but when they’re in power you can see clearly they don’t care about you. In fact, frequently your suffering is a financial advantage to these grifters so they perpetuate it.
