This is a complete distraction. Ireland cannot build a nuclear power plant fast enough to matter. Making a decision to do so would excuse punting on all the wind and solar things it can and must do. This is a lobby project of the tech industry to have something to say when building data centres.

I'm old enough to remember how terrified of measles mothers were in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and how intensely they discussed it if anyone's child had it, even people well outside our social network but in the same village.

Really informative thread if you want to understand vaccines a bit better. I’m a default supporter likely because my mother had TB and later trained as a nurse in the amazing 1950s/1960s NHS. She’d be horrified at the anti-vax cavalier “let them get ill/die” approach

I'm loathe to share this man, but this one is personal. My masters thesis was on the MMR controversy, so believe me when I say that this path of separation of the MMR will result in nothing but increased sales of too-small coffins, and children with life-altering medical conditions.

I was nearly run off the road yesterday by a stupid fat SUV going way more than the 60kmh limit. I am so completely sick of Irish incompetence both *on* the road and from authorities charged with enforcing their own rules. No speed cameras, no traffic gardai and carnage unless YOU are in the fat SUV

It would be helpful if the followup to terrible incidents like these were published at a later date so that we can find out what kinds of behaviours are responsible. Otherwise, we just end up with default "cycling is dangerous" and the usual calls for bans/helmets/hi-vis bsky.app/profile/iris...
