Folks are understandably taking @mattyglesias.bsky.social to task for the 'HR training' focus, but I am struck by the inability here to recognize an educational failure. It is *your* (/our) job to explain to those voters that the collapse of democracy *will* have a greater impact on their lives.

As silly as the whole "the right has no cultural influence" argument is, the whole edifice is indeed a depressing look into the mind of a typical American swing voter

I feel like an issue that would connect well with voters would be doing anything at all to slow the current progression toward "absolutely everything now is a scam"

0/19 In which I post a long multi-part ramble which scratches the surface of my life experiences (as a white person) with racism in Alabama in the 1960s.

I should have posted an explanation of this machine then - Notwithstanding the "decset8000" label, this is a PDP-8. The originals were built with discrete components. By the time this one was built they were made with 7400-series logic. 1/12 bsky.app/profile/kenr...

Went to VCF SoCal today and there was a PDP-8 in a new-to-me color scheme. Learned to program on one of these in 1973. @adventofcomp.bsky.social gave a hilarious talk about INTERCAL, the Compiler Language With No Pronounceable Acronym

A PDP-8 computer in a new-to-me blue & blue color scheme. I learned to program on one with the more typical red-and-gold scheme, and I’ve seen a hideous two+tome green variant, too.

let's be clear, let's be very clear, let's be incredibly clear about something: Marcia Lucas is why you love Star Wars. She's why Star Wars worked. She's why it has heart. She's responsible for the in-media-res beginning, she's responsible for basically everything charming and unique about >

Oscar winner and San Francisco resident Marcia Lucas — the former wife of George Lucas who edited the original “Star Wars,” “American Graffiti” and “Taxi Driver” —  has died.
