A THREAD. This week lots of my friends will be driving cross-country to Indianapolis for Gen Con, a big gaming industry convention. They'll also be driving home - and they're way more likely to be exhausted! This seems like a good time to pull out my semi-annual standard advice to keep you alive.

I’m flying back from Sheboygan with fifteen pounds of fresh cheese curds and made-today string cheese. On the other hand, my flight-that-replaced-a-canceled-flight (that itself replaced a different canceled flight) now gets me home at 3 am. At least we know I won’t starve?
We do one of these every year, and it’s pretty much the best. There’s good advice here.
Since stepping down as steward of Big Bad, I’ve focused on small events, what I call housecons. No flights, no hotel, communal meals, and scheduling that is either very loose (let’s play some games) or fully scheduled in advance (welcome to SeanCon, here’s your itinerary). My thoughts.
"The Splendid Annunciation of the End of the World" by @kevinkulp.bsky.social introduces a mighty Atlantean entity. The more who know of it, the more powerful it becomes, threatening to shatter even heaven's vault. Will you aid its ambition to further your own or find a way to bury it beyond memory?
You guys, I think I’ve figured out how Avengers: Doomsday canonically resolves! They’re not showing Squirrel Girl… YET. #tippytoes4Eva
The 1st edition of @megueyb.bsky.social ‘s Psi*Run is BRILLIANT - recreating the feel of Stephen King’s Firestarter in a RPG that does “holy crap we have no memory and we are running for our lives” so very well. Please grab 2e! I think you’ll be glad you did. www.kickstarter.com/projects/117...

Whoever was holding you captive, you're free, for now. You have superpowers & amnesia. You know they're after you. What could go wrong?

Ugh. Trying to get stock art off Shutterstock and it makes it so hard to avoid the AI slop. Doesn't help that uploaders don't always label it. My current trick is to only use art uploaded before 2021, but that feels like it screws genuine artists uploading new stuff.
I used to post a free game on r/RPG every month until they started taking them down as self-promotion. And like; it’s free. It’s a free thing. I haven’t offered a way to pay for it, even. Anyway that was in 2021 and I haven’t used the website since
It's a fairly interesting post. www.reddit.com/r/rpg/commen...
Tommy Wiseau of The Room has made a shark movie, BIG SHARK - and he sent me a love note! Also, on the back side of the love note, I learn that he really wants me to buy his underwear. Didn’t expect that.
Crappy shark movie #190 was WATER PARK SHARK, which we ranked at #122 (below Bikini Shark & Ouija Shark 2). It’s the 1st movie where we are convinced the stinker of a script was written by ChatGPT! Acting was fun, CGI sharks were fun, budget was decent, but the script was bad.
My dog Yoink loves this lake as much as I do. Today we loved it at 5:30am.
Today I learned that the European Space Agency has an acoustic testing facility so loud (158 db) that it can kill a person. I desperately want to see this used in a locked room murder mystery. www.esa.int/Enabling_Sup...

...was a goddess as well as a city, and full of swashbucklers and merchants and cultists?" Great game, huge fun conversation. We'll be following that up with an actual-play of the game run by its co-designer @kevinkulp.bsky.social , and then our final release of the season is (drum roll pls) (cont.)
Season 3 of Ludonarrative Dissidents is drawing to a slow close: our backers have just received ep.25, about DIALECT, a game abut 'language and how it dies'. Meanwhile ep.24 is now on general release, delving into SWORDS OF THE SERPENTINE, the RPG that answers the question 'What if Venice... (cont.)

Here's the cover illustration I had the pleasure of painting for 'The Shape of Monsters' by @tessagratton.bsky.social , for Orbit Books! It's Book 2 of The Moon Heresies trilogy and sequel to The Mercy Makers 🌔 Out June 2026!
Reposting for the evening crowd...
We are excited to reveal our special edition of The Dungeon Book by Gareth Hanrahan in collaboration with Orbit! 💀 Enter a world of dungeons and dragons, magic and manticores, goblins and gargoyles in this captivating standalone fantasy
A grubby, run-down local museum dedicated to a dungeon. A few broken ten-foot poles, mostly Victorian replicas. A copy of the book of poems written by some Byronic dungeon crawler in the 1700s. Early 20th century dungeon miners, staring hollow-eyed out of black-and-white photographs.
shameless prompt tweet, but if you could run your own little museum, what would it be?
Wonderclout (n.) - Something showy in appearance but that’s utterly worthless. “The druxy oligarch, a meretricious wonderclout, doddered his way to the sacellum for a garishly Barnumized token balop featuring an awkwardly perfunctory rictus and the cack-handed wielding of a sacrosanct enchiridion.”
Flipping heck indeed: Swords of the Serpentine, Fábula Última (which I’ve heard good things about), The One Ring, TimeWatch, Urban Shadows 2e, Fantasy AGE, Ashen Stars, Star Trek Adventures 2e, If I Were a Lich, Man, AND MORE. An incredible bundle.
Flipping heck, there's some good stuff in here. Especially surprised to see OUTGUNNED: SUPERHEROES, as it's not been published yet. www.humblebundle.com/books/roll-b...
Now you've got me watching the entire 11 Foot 8 archives, I hope you're happy.

36 hours left. I gleefully backed this – it’s a good heist game and right now it’s incredibly cathartic. Take a look!
Players pick the gig in The Old The Cold The Bold. Some crimes we've done at the table are... ...ruining the life of a tech bro, "obtaining" bank paperwork to save homes from foreclosure, "obtaining" museum artifacts that belong to someone else, going after a corrupt judge, and 🔥data centers🔥.
I had a really great #UKGE2026 this year. I could definitely feel the show's size increase on the @pelgranepress.bsky.social booth; as I've said to a few people, it's Gen Con-sized now, which is a fantastic achievement for the @ukge.bsky.social team. 👏👏👏
