The responses and quote-posts of this thread are prime examples of why liberals are not, and will never be anything other than selfish obstructions to freedom. Just wildly arrogant, poorly educated natterings produced by people who are playing Candyland and think it's Chess.
Jen Hernandez, and people like her, may just decide who controls Congress this year. Hernandez, 43, is Mexican-American, millennial, married, and lives in a small city in Colorado. In 2016, she voted for comedian Roseanne Barr. In 2020, she backed Biden, and in 2024 Jill Stein. 🧵
“No one is saying “Gellar should disappear.” We’re saying he should not seek a public platform & that many will now not support him if he does. Sucks if he does, cause some will support him because we forgive rapists more easily than plagiarist like James Somerton.
Sorry to say it, but in a society, everyone’s concerns matter, because everyone contributes to society. You can’t just make the bad people disappear, because whether you like it or not, you need them. @jasonkpargin.bsky.social made a brilliant video about this: youtu.be/O3GzrYI8Tj4?...
The way the Cornell victim is being publicly disbelieved by a lot of journalists, officials, and online posters is also a warning shot to every other victim not to dare to actually pursue a case against your rapist lest you suffer the same fate. It’s a means of protecting the status quo
This is going to be hilarious to watch. Do we have an over/under on how long this will last?
This is, quite literally, the most self-serving, harmful, ignorant attempt to circumvent critical thinking that we've seen in a long time. I'm not interested in destroying the climate because you're too lazy to read.
This is the future of scientific papers. Instead of a PDF, the paper is an AI agent that you can talk to, ask questions, run analyses. No more digging through supplements - just ask the paper directly: "what p-value cutoff was used in Fig 3B? Re-run at 0.01." www.nature.com/articles/s41...
hold up, this guy is the R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago and he didn't know there were banking sanctions against Russia?
The world’s wrongest man, John Mearsheimer, says he was effectively penniless during his recent visit to Russia because the “Russia expert” didn’t know his US credit card wouldn’t work there.
I simply cannot imagine being this loud and this wrong about how gender-affirming care for minors works. I'm not linking to him, but downthread he goes full "enjoy the camps." These aren't allies. They're transphobes who will demand the oppressed vote for their own disenfranchisement.
Accounts on this site really contain multitudes, don't they?
Sorry, no. Even the 'heroes' promote eugenics, slavery, meritocracy. The school is competetive, classist, segregationist, and eliminationist. It's essentialist pablum. Digestible bigotry. LeGuin had HP pegged, “stylistically ordinary, imaginatively derivative, and ethically rather mean-spirited.”
Still has a prestigious, high paying academic job. No massive campaign out there to "whistleblow" and "fact check" him and call for his firing. I wonder why. www.dukechronicle.com/article/duke...

Just an incredible betrayal of the very principles the AHA used to stand for. This is beyond damning: it should be grounds for a snap election. There's a non-paywall link in the comments, and though it's quite long, it's definitely worth your time.
The American Historical Association hired a lobbying firm to help silence member advocacy on Palestine. In this essay, Adam Rzepka covers @historians.org's relationship w/ Thorn Run Partners, its deep ethical conflicts, & the advocacy crisis AHA has thrust upon us. www.chronicle.com/article/a-sc...
"Fabrication" requires intent. Unless an algorithm has been programmed to return knowingly false information, then following the OP's logic, "fabrication" is equally as problematic as "hallucination." That's why "slop" works so well. You'd think someone claiming to be a lawyer would know this.
@susanseager.bsky.social posted asking us to ban the term "hallucinate" for AI. She said in part, “The term 'hallucinate' is an inaccurate, industry-friendly term that should be banned when reporting news about AI fabrications.”
A recent Heritage Foundation report slams history museums that reflect “the training of academic historians.” It is titled, “The Heritage Guide to Historic Sites: Rediscovering America’s Heritage.” The report instructs historical sites to “focus” on “what the common people find interesting.”
"The process of actual democracy may be exciting, but have you considered how I, a former Reagan speechwriter, feel about the DSA? "Never in the history of American politics have Republicans targeted centrist Democrats as 'Communists.' Come read my very smart ramblings about an ideology I loathe."
Thanks to @airbagged.bsky.social's posts about Evangelion, I'm finally giving it a go for the first time. It's very, very good thus far.

What I'll remember most about Graham is the suffering he inflicted on Americans while causing the deaths of countless overseas. But sure, Adam, he had "humor."
What I’ll remember most about Senator Graham was his sense of humor and how he deployed it to move his policy positions forward. Though we did not often agree, Senator Graham was never disagreeable.
The stage is falling apart at the rehearsal for Freedom 250's July 4th celebration.
"15 term incumbent" is not a term that should exist at any level of politics. Genuinely embarrassing that little feudal lords are allowed to squat on these seats for decades and it's seen as normal. It also downplays what an incredible effort someone like Kiros has to put in to dislodge them.
Kiros, a political newcomer, topped 15-term-incumbent Diana DeGette in the Democratic primary in Colorado's 1st Congressional District, a reliably blue House seat. n.pr/4eCVqV3
We already have roughly two-thirds of the ballots counted in Colorado's first congressional district. And we could be in for another earthquake congressional result: Melat Kiros, a democratic socialist challenger, is up 47.5% to 45% against Rep. Diana DeGette, a longtime incumbent, in Dem primary.
Most of this primary's voting guide from BP is excellent, but absolutely do not vote for Kubs. His stance is unapologetically pro-AI, and I loathe what that would mean for our campus. Murray Smith is our best bet here. If nothing else, he actually attended CU boulderreportinglab.org/profile/murr...
