Comment by Itch.io user NearlyNotQuite:

The world that has been built here is incredible, every single word was perfectly placed to give a sense of the oppressive nature of a crowd mentality. The struggle against what seemed inevitable, what I'm being told now is a bad ending, even if it was essentially how I would have reacted to the situation.
The feeling was similar to my own experiences as a young adult trying to fit in, I don't know if that was
intentional, but I think everyone should play this at least once.

Comment:
Oh dear, where to even begin... first of all i'm not someone who plays visual novels (in fact, this is the first one i've gone through ever), so given my inexperience i was absolutely caught off-guard by how this story made me feel.
The silence that followed my finishing the game felt so jarring bes it legitimately felt like i just got spat out of a mental whirlwind, and truth be told, my heart is still racing from the anxiety and it's been a few minutes since i finished it. All the imagery is also still stuck in my head and that writing paired with the sound design really made for a very immersive experience ! There were definitely times i had to adjust the volume purely because i was genuinely feeling overwhelmed by the music (while i was focusing on reading), and i can't tell y'all how many times i scrunched my face in disgust at some of descriptions, so y'all are definitely achieving the desired effect with them :D
Incredibly stellar art and presentation too, i specifically like how strongly i felt towards the characters just from seeing their designs at first glance, some feel like they were designed to seem more familiar or "friendlier" , while others instantly made
me feel on edge just because they looked so
"otherwordly", and i don't know if i'm reading too much into all this but in any case... Wow !!!
I also totally agree with that other commenter who said something appreciative about how this game's scare factor explores a bit beyond the prototypical ideas most people have of what "scary" is, especially in games, and while i didn't know what to expect going in i had some idea of what to expect when it came to something "scary", so this definitely influenced my being so 'caught off-guard'!
Massive props to the team behind this very unsettling and yet oddly relatable game ! I felt simultaneously creeped out and seen LOL and i'm excited to see more so i'll definitely stay tuned for whatever else the team's cooking up next :D

This game was so cool! The teal-pink dithered aesthetic is beautiful, and stunning illustrations - so much personality, backgrounds felt kind of somber and melancholic, scratched my brain just right. limited palettes can be tricky I think because there's a risk of sprites disappearing into the backgrounds, I liked the presentation here a lot. &I feel like it was a great pair to the fever-dreamlike tone of the writing. was beautiful in the literary way too, I enjoyed reading many of the descriptions (like
'feathers fletch from foiled sheaths'). and I LOVE
Sol's design, I wish I had an extroverted friend like them lo1!
one interesting thing that really stood out to me was just how unrelentingly *rich* the worldly descriptions were and how MC's lived experience is so tightly (and fearfully, maybe desperately) embodied in their physical sensory experience because they're afraid to lose themselves. and that this is despite a deep-seated yearning for authentic connection with others and searching for it, and not finding it, and not knowing what it is or what it should feel like, even in a huge crowd full of sticky lovers and warm bodies that are waving something they claim is shaped like it - or even performing what they think it should be shaped like (thinking ab the mask motifs)
- in MC's face. I think a lot of people would resonate with the themes of alienation and belonging here, and how much MC struggles to connect to both themselves and others, how they cling to the safety of what is familiar and yet ultimately unfulfilling because the devil they know looks better than the devil they don't.
also. when I first saw good ole mr tower I was like
'oh hell no Imao GO BACK GO BACK' and tried the other options hoping for different cards, LOL, but then I was like 'damn that's a perfect choice tho', same with the others. hell yeah!
loved this. storm of talent, really unique game. 10/10
would get overstimmied at the sad apocalyptic queer rave again

i loved this! it was really well done. looking forward to the updates, i can tell a lot of love was put into this.
i love the idea of it not exactly being Scary: tm:, but instead playing with the element of anxiety and overstimulation for its inducement of fear. super unique!
the colours were so tasty too, and they work well for the setting. the dithering was also a fun way to do backgrounds. i loved that it shifted every few seconds too, it's subtle, but it adds so much!
tarot is so fun to explore, especially in a setting like this. i loved the way the readings were described. spot on and well-informed. and of course, haunting! great choice of cards for this.
it's great when things are otherworldly but not to the point of it seeming outlandish to apply the meaning to real life. zoomorphism has a very special feeling of bordering on reality and supernatural topics. it's the kind of feeling i get when i go on a ghost tour. but aside from that, it's about the themes of displacement and change that really stick out to me... it raises such interesting food for thought. the sense of belonging should be something one discovers on their own. the sense of self, is something only you can decide for yourself. being forced to change will backfire. but sometimes change still happens whether we want it to or not (due to disasters/accidents/etc). change isn't always good. and sometimes it means that the things we love will be left behind and buried in the past.
the writing nails the handling of change and what it means (both the good and bad aspect, with a leaning towards the bad/forced). it doesn't feel forced upon the reader either.
anyway. 10/10 superb work everyone! thank you for sharing this with the world. it took me about 15 minutes to read, which isn't bad at all and i feel that update you've spoken of will hit the sweet spot, so to speak.

Good to see this argument being made more now after two decades of me repeating "but it's a labour market problem" while feeling like I'm banging my head against a wall.

New from me: Britain’s graduate earnings premium is falling, cue “too many go to university!” But non-university outcomes are also bad, cue “we must reform vocational routes!” Both miss the point: people used to think education drove economic outcomes, but the economy drives educational outcomes.

It's driving me insane. The govt spends £1.4 trillion a year. Borrowing estimates are often by tens of billions over a year. But we're supposed to imagine money is budgeted to the last penny.

Christ almighty. The British obsession with itemized “pay fors” for everything is insane. This is just really not how fiscal policy or government works anywhere functional.

Agree with every word of this We've gone from 9% of social care staff coming from outside the UK and EEA in 2021/22 to almost 25% in 2024/25 The govt has no near-term replacement It means either: 1) staffing shortages or 2) councils spending far more to attract staff, with no extra funding

Nuffield Trust@nuffieldtrust.org.uk · 11mo ago

The large drop in immigration seen in today's ONS data will likely have huge consequences for social care. The sector has been entirely reliant on care workers from overseas to meet growing demand. Read our statement from Researcher @cglobont.bsky.social 👇

Digital fanart for Omniscient reader's viewpoint. It's a portrait of Anna Croft holding up two stones between her fingers with the bigger stone hiding her eye. Both stones feature red stars at their centers. Her other eye is hidden behind her hair with her demon eye floating at the front. This eye's root wraps around her head, transforming into a barbed wire along the way. Her wrist holding up the stones is showered with blood coming from the top.

No words.

The lives of those living in Gaza are deemed less important than maintaining relations with Israel and, by proxy, the US. At the personal level, on Labour's doorsteps, this approach plays out in the most callous of ways. Dalloul al-Neder is a Palestinian refugee from Gaza, who was a constituent of the former deputy prime minister, Angela Rayner.
He got to know her, meeting several times: she visited his takeaway shop in 2019 and posed for pictures, declaring "Palestine must be free". She took him on a tour of parliament.

PHOTO: Dalloul al-Neder, who lives in Manchester, with an image of his late mother - he has lost several family members in Gaza bombings.
Photograph: Sean Hansford/MEN Media

Within weeks of the genocide beginning, in October 2023, his mother, brother, sister-in-law and two young nieces were killed by an Israeli airstrike. Desperate to evacuate his wife and four-month-old daughter - who had been buried under rubble three times by Israeli attacks - he emailed Rayner twice to seek help evacuating his family. He says received no response.

In January 2024, he attended a Labour fundraiser in Stockport addressed by Rayner and her colleague, Jonathan Reynolds, and got to his feet, clutching pictures of his dead mother, begging her to support a ceasefire, emotionally declaring "I lost my family in Gaza". The whole tawdry episode is on camera: he was aggressively ejected from the meeting and on to the street. Rayner did nothing, except to say "thank you, you've made your point". She then unfollowed him on social media. Days later, she was interviewed by Sky News' Beth Rigby, who framed the incident as an example of the threats politicians face, linking it to the murder of the MPs Jo Cox and David Amess.
Since then, so many of Neder's relatives have been slaughtered by the Israeli state that their names take up three pages of a notebook.

They avoided one another's faces, for fear of what they might see mirrored there. Each man thought: one of the others is bound to say something soon, some protest, and then I'll murmur agreement, not actually say anything, I'm not stupid as that, but definitely murmur very firmly, so that the others will be in no doubt that I thoroughly disapprove, because at a time like this it behooves all decent men to nearly stand up and be almost heard...
No one said anything. The cowards, thought each man.
