Men will literally create a humanity destroying technology before talking to their kids.

yeah we’ve got to get back to having rich people visited by three ghosts
I love the simplicity of this study: 1) Find homes with gas stoves and asthmatic children 2) Replace the gas stoves with induction stoves. 3) Come back in three months. Results? "Missed days of work or school because of asthma dropped by about 80%."
An elegant study shows how bad gas stoves are for your kids' health
Researchers replaced gas stoves with induction in homes with asthmatic children, and they got better fast.

I volunteered with Laine’s campaign in 2022 canvassing at the door. It was a wonderful experience! I met many new people and learned so much. I highly recommend volunteering with an upcoming municipal campaign. Laine is an incredible councillor and I’m so happy she represents our ward 🗳️

Canada arguably has a Red Tory party — it just so happens to still be called “the Liberal Party of Canada.” Rachel Gilmore writes. thetyee.ca/Analysis/202...

The prime minister is causing a major realignment in Canadian politics. More proof came Wednesday.

Good lord, every word of this is brilliant; I can't even narrow down a phrase from it to quote.
“If they can convince you a song produced by such a beast is good, then what use is there for any of us? Let the machine work and drain and sputter and purge; may we dance and clap at what meager pleasures it can conjure." An empty bit of good:
There’s a lot of space for greenery on our streets if you just reallocate a bit from cars.
I took transit last night to a play at the Gladstone. The line 2 train going to Bayview was packed with Bluesfest attendees. Great to have a free pass with the festival ticket.
This whole thing with trains sent into wildfire areas, and unhoused people stuck outside in dangerous conditions, and the government rolling back our climate action... it's making me so mad. We don't have to do this! We could choose to take care of everyone!

The world wants to do more with Canada. Our MOU with Alberta will unlock those opportunities in energy — and create lasting benefits for Canadians.
I genuinely hate the push to make smoking a thing again. I have watched so many drawn out, ugly, painful deaths from smoking. It makes everything disgusting. It enslaves us to the worst kinds of corporations. There’s ZERO positive here.
Incredibly brazen for the Prime Minister to boast about the “lasting benefits” of expanding fossil fuel production on a day like today. Record-breaking heatwaves. Toxic smoke engulfing cities and towns. Out of control wildfires forcing entire communities to evacuate. /1

We are experiencing the world's worst air quality, and we're getting absolutely no response from leadership other than announcements about building more pipelines. Do not normalize this.
So many mixed feelings whenever the people I look up to join one of the evil tech companies and claim to be fighting for good. I wish they'd just join and not say such things. I understand we all need money in this capitalistic world but why claim to be doing good!?

Just like oil and gas (which, again, is only a major employer if you look at the installation phase of a project), datacentres are NOT major employers. They are not designed to be major employers. They are not designed to bring benefits or profit to the local communities.
Some people are completely amazed at what AI can do. But if you think that’s impressive, wait until you find out what people can do.
Carney calling Lindsey Graham a defender of democracy and freedom when the man made jokes on his official X account about taking over Canada is just the last straw of many last straws for me.
Council just got an update from City staff about data they've compiled from municipal rain gauges - 26 across the City. Some areas of the city experienced "a storm event close to or exceeding a 1 in 200-year event." 1/

Linda McQuaig: A wealth tax could transform our world
Although scorned today, America’s robust taxation of the rich in the middle of the last century amounted to an astonishing achievement of popular democracy, with huge public benefits.
