I still haven't gotten over the way fascism creates a moral inversion across broad swaths of public life where what was evil 5 years ago is now at least potentially good while what was agreed on as good is all but assumed to be evil.

The chant you're hearing is "FIRST! DO NO HARM!" Huge high five to everyone who came out to the protest at Mount Sinai over the hospital's deal with Trump to end gender-affirming care for trans youth. 🧵 of photos to follow!
Mt Sinai has violated the Hippocratic Oath and sacrificed the health of Trans and Gender Nonconforming youth by capitulating to the Trump admin. A coalition of TGNCNB and LGBTQIA+ activists, and allies will stand up for our youth against @mountsinainyc.bsky.social . JOIN US!
Honestly, I'd say the most disastrous decisions of Obama and Biden were not really holding anyone accountable for crimes committed under the previous administration. Obama wanted to "turn the page" on Iraq and the financial meltdown while Biden never put any urgency behind the January 6th cases
What was the most disastrous decision from the most recent presidents that had effects we feel today? Clinton: Lying under oath and getting away with it (paved way for Trump) Bush: Iraq Obama: Syria and Libya Trump I: Covid and pulling out of JCPOA Biden: Running again Trump II: Iran
If I won a ribbon at a fair, you would never hear the end of it.
If you came up in Nashville in the late 20th Century, are you aware of how fucking lucky we were to get Summer Passes on the hill at Starwood?

One thing I’ve always said about living in America is that I wish everything cost more, but in a completely unpredictable and nonsensical way, due to the brain leakage of a man who is aging like a forgotten potato in the bottom of a drawer
My Granny was around 75yo and lived in rural Appalachia. She wore yellow rubber gloves up to her elbows and a face mask to get her mail at the end of the driveway for months.
Everyone post your most insane 9/11 local freak out! Some people were thinking we might be a target because some highschool kids were interviewed about Bush choking on a pretzel so that made us a target
There is a 7yo at work. I've known her family for three years. She read a Frog and Toad story to me today and then hugged me. She said, "I'm just so glad you are my friend." PURE.
I am FINALLY over someone I thought I loved from 1989. Follow me for relationship advice lol.
Daily struggle for at least 4 decades: I am hungry. I do not have a desire to eat. I must eat anyway, but what?!?!
Dolly Parton logged a combined total of 115 years of union membership. Throughout her working life, the “9 to 5” singer/songwriter carried the union cards of two major unions: The American Federation of Musicians Local 257 in Nashville — for 58 years. SAG-AFTRA — for 57 years. HAPPY LABOR DAY!

John Nichols: She carried two union cards, sang Woody Guthrie songs and mocked the bosses in "9 to 5."

James Baldwin: "The subtle and deadly change of heart that might occur in you would be involved with the realization that a civilization is not destroyed by wicked people, it is not necessary that people be wicked, but only that they be spineless."
“That’s all anybody can do right now. Live. Hold out. Survive. I don’t know whether good times are coming back again. But I know that won’t matter if we don’t survive these times.” -Octavia E. Butler, Parable of the Sower
I too am very sad that Gloria Steinem is dead, but I am seeing a number of people post "Rest in Power," and I just want to give a gentle reminder that that phrase has very specific connotations for/in Black culture and is probably not the right one for this situation.

When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things RIP Wendell Berry
Calvin and Hobbes really called it, didn’t they?
Protest that endures, I think, is moved by a hope far more modest than that of public success: namely, the hope of preserving qualities in one's own heart and spirit that would be destroyed by acquiescence. Wendell Berry, What Are People For?
Wendell Berry was a giant. He understood that ecological destruction and capitalism’s worship of limitless scale were not separate problems, but were a single moral wound. He built a moral universe in which land, work, love, and community all belong to one another. As we belong to one another.
Some friends are teaching their baby ASL as an early bridge to speech and they made the mistake of teaching her “want” as a concept. Now she wanders around the house signing “want” all the time as an expression of unfocused desire. They fucked up and made the baby invent the opposite of Buddhism.
