I see a lot of social media discussion about what the “Democratic Party” is that’s untethered from reality as a party organizer. It’s not a black box in DC, it’s people in your neighborhood trying to make a difference. If you have new ideas, your local & state party are the ground floor opportunity.

“There’s libbing out of all kinds here. Moderates who’ve been at it for forty years and progressives who’ve been pushing party boundaries for ten. There are tables hawking campaign merch, staffers who look like they didn’t sleep last night, and consultants who definitely haven’t slept in a week.”

Dead or alive, Mitch McConnell is on extended medical leave — on your dime. This is the same Mitch McConnell who voted against: paid family and medical leave for everyone else.

"A concentration camp, in its most basic definition, is a place where a targeted civilian population, not necessarily accused of a crime, is detained and at least some of their basic rights are suspended," writes @jwashing.bsky.social. "That’s precisely what’s happening in the United States today."

Don’t call them ICE detention centers. Call them camps | John Washington

I’ve spent a decade reporting on immigration enforcement. The word ‘camp’ best captures the political function of these facilities

Scary stories about teens sell. The data tells a different story. After decades studying adolescent mental health, here's what I found: This isn't an anxious generation. It's a resilient one. Let's start treating them that way. go.ted.com/candiceodgers

What we're getting wrong about teens and tech

For years, the warning has been: smartphones are destroying a generation. But developmental psychologist Candice Odgers says that decades of data on teens tells a different story — violence, alcohol u...

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was murdered by ICE. His three sons called him “El mundo entero” — the whole world. They watched as their whole world died in a video posted on Facebook. Lorenzo was our neighbor and fellow Texan. He deserves justice.

NEW: Sen. John Hickenlooper is calling on Trump to personally pay back taxpayers for the millions he spent revamping the Reflecting Pool, now a cesspool of algae + chunks of blue sealant. “This was not a result of vandalism, but your administration’s incompetence." www.huffpost.com/entry/senato...

Reminder: a.) Iran wasn't close to having a nuke and b.) the actions taken by Trump made them closer to getting one (when he pulled out of JCPOA) and c.) current war is not helping reduce the risk and d.) the price hikes will not be a short-term phenomenon. (And the lunatic with nukes is Trump.)

Trump has no public events on his schedule again today. The last time he was seen publicly for something other than a pre-taped interview was six days ago -- Wednesday, May 27 -- for his cabinet meeting. (He went to Walter Reed the day before.)

So true - the Trump Administration has decided to murder people it thinks (maybe) are engaged in drug trafficking, rather than relying on our criminal justice system to determine guilt or innocence, let alone punishment. And Congress is doing nothing. And it doesn’t register as a campaign issue.

As horrifying as this campaign of premeditated murder is, what might be even more disturbing is the utter indifference of Congress, the public and our allies to such a shocking and unapologetic obliteration of the many laws and norms against targeting civilians. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/31/w...
