Meanwhile, there are two active wildfires this morning in the drier air over South Florida. The one to the southeast is the Mile Marker 40 Fire - estimated by the FFS at 3,600 acres and 0% contained. Will watch both for pyroCbs this afternoon. ⚡️🔥☁️⚡️
Wow, I didn’t realize the mainstream media was still capable of properly covering political scandals. Now do Ken Paxton.
Okay, now it’s Republicans’ turn to kick out the most prominent rapist in their party
After this level of ass-kissing, would it be a surprise if the FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, somehow ended up in the Epstein Files?
EU lawmakers want Gianni Infantino investigated over Trump contact
Dozens of European lawmakers are gathering support to launch an investigation in the European Parliament of FIFA boss Gianni Infantino over his involvement in the decision to permit U.S. striker Folarin Balogun to play despite an earlier red card.

Hell yeah! Good for 🇪🇬! Let VAR try and overturn that one. #ARGvsEGY #WorldCup2026
VAR superseding judgement calls on the field is out of control. If the foul was that egregious it should have been called in real-time, not after an incredible run across the full pitch. Seems it was ONLY reviewed because it resulted in a goal, not due to the action itself. Ridiculous. #WorldCup
PKs!!!!! LFG!!!
From @theathleticfc.bsky.social: Germany vs. Paraguay will have a penalty shootout to decide who advances to the Round of 16. Germany have never lost a penalty shootout at the World Cup, winning all four that they have contested. nyti.ms/4gekfba
Look at that satellite tornado in the velocity animation (right panel) 🤩
MiniCOW packs MegaPOWER! Observes birth and ingestion of satellite tornado and Fujiwara effect deflecting tornado. Tornado transitions 2x between clear eye and debris ball. Prelim data from most powerful mobile radar, 1 MegaWatt C-band storm-penetrating miniCOW in Braman, OK 🌪️
My hot take on the Southeast fires no one asked for. We’ve known this was coming since the 2025 hurricane failed to deliver landfalling systems in the region. La Niña and climate change compounded the ground water issues through fall, winter and now spring. Every indicator is as bad as it gets.

All regional offices shuttered. All research facilities, and ongoing local studies, gone. HQ moved to the backyard of the most anti-public-lands politicians, knowing career personnel won’t follow. -> Decimate the agency -> Sell off our public lands -> A few people fill their pockets at our expense.
BREAKING: Trump Administration Orders Dismantling of the U.S. Forest Service
The headquarters is going to Utah. Every regional office is being shuttered. The research program is being destroyed.

We’re gearing up to potentially have one of the most devastating wildfire seasons ever, & we’re now reorganizing the 2 largest land management agencies in the country. On top DOGE cuts decimating USFS last year, and further tearing apart USFS Research which is already extremely limited. 😖

Announcement part of controversial shakeup described by critics as administration attack on ‘science and scientists’

Over and over the message this administration sends to federal employees is "Break the law, and so long as you're doing it to support our political causes, we'll let it slide." It is a recipe for corruption and impunity. Discipline has to mean something.

Most days, humanity’s outlook seems bleak, but stories like this give me hope for a future where technology is used to benefit society harmoniously with our environment, rather than exploiting the planet & its people for profits. Is it naive? Absolutely. Is it worth striving for? Absolutely.

Snowpack in Colorado is dismal...
Snowpack in Colorado has already been low this season but an early spring heat wave has just worsened conditions.

Hmmm, no way putting a controversial name on something that inherently circulates around a community could be detrimental. Banks will have to take these out of circulation en masse when these notes are vandalized.
The Treasury Department plans to put President Trump’s signature on all new paper currency. The move coincides with an ongoing effort to place his likeness on a coin, which has sparked criticism since federal law prohibits depicting a living president on U.S. currency. https://wapo.st/4m5OyS7

Truly a heat wave of historic proportions. We'll be able to clearly identify the outliers of 🌡️ extreme temperatures & resulting ❄️ snowpack levels caused from this for decades.
From March 15 through March 26 there have been... More than 100 monthly records & more than 700 daily records broken or tied. Since March 1 there have been more than 1,100 daily records broken or tied across the nation. Some record heat will remain through the weekend for areas of the Southwest.
The aggregate Daily Maximum Temperatures—going back to 1979—across a swath of the Southwest (incl., CA, NV, UT, CO, AZ, & NM) shows an extreme outlier in mid-to-late March of ≅26°C. This obliterates the highest values observed in March (by ≅5°C), but also tops any value seen through EARLY MAY! #cowx
This incredible heat wave 🥵 is rewriting the record books for Colorado’s snowpack. 🏔️ We're currently witnessing a snow drought of historic proportions.🤯 With ~2 weeks of record-smashing temps across the Western US, our mountains are losing what little snow they had—fast. 📉 🧵 1/9 #cowx
Last week’s heat wave was record-smashing, extraordinary, and impossible to ignore. It continued yesterday and even today in parts of the state. This new blog post provides some climate context on the mind-boggling temperatures and how they are affecting the drought and snowpack situation. #cowx
